I relate to Amethyst so much. She hides her pain and problems with a smile, she thinks ignoring them will make them go away. But instead they just... Pile up. And they only get worse. I used to do this a lot before I met my best friend. I never had a real friend before, so that was a big change for me. She helped me open up so much and I'm so much stronger because of that now. I love this picture because it captures not only Amethyst for who she is, but also the people who relate to her and who connect to her in ways words can't.

I thought for a very long time how to answer this message and the only thing I can say is thank you for putting to words how I see amethyst. I, like you, also relate a lot to her. I relate more to her than any other character because I bottle my feelings a lot, like they donβt exist, and when amethyst grows as a character I feel myself grow as well. Iβm really glad that you found someone that helps you opening up, because, honestly, bottling up feelings is nothing but bad for oneself.Β

I also believe that the episode On The Road really showed that Amethyst can be just a complex a character as anyone else in the show, like Pearl. (and that's really saying something cause Pearl goes through a lot of shit X-D) Β She grow so much in that episode and it hit me like a train to see how much I really saw myself in her; her insecurity, her pain, her dialogue, everything in that episode, I saw myself. And I know many people saw themselves in her as well. Β Amethyst represents the people who don't believe they can be helped or deserve it because they've never had it before and believe that no one would be willing to give it to them. (Which, again, I see in myself all the time)

I agree so much with you, that episode was really something. Specially because it started with such a simple premise, but they running away actually got us to understand so much of Amethyst (Also, being on the road with no place to return, no rules, no attachments its actually a dream long running dream of mine). I really love that episode. I hope there are more episodes like that for Amethyst.
Iβm not very gifted with words so I canβt really express my feeling most of the times, thatβs mostly why I donβt express them. So I keep to myself, I hope someday Iβll be like Amethyst a talk about my problems J
Also that episode where Peridot called Amethyst defective (I forgot the episode name). I think Amethyst still has a lot of troubles talking about her feelings, because she decided to bottle up and not tell Peridot that she hurt her. It was more of a growth episode for peridot, but I think it give a little insight on how Amethyst thinks and feels. I really love this show.

Oh no worried, friend. I completely agree with you. The entire show is just a piece of art in and of itself. Not just the art, but also the story; each individual episode tells one whole story of love, accepting oneself, and accepting others for who they are. Β And I admire Rebecca Sugar for putting so much thought into this amazing show.

You captured Amethyst's two sides beautifully. Great job first on the cheerful, playful woman herself, especially with such a beautiful beach and sun background to frame the beautiful Crystal Gem so nicely. Then to see her shadow, crying so hard inside, is heartbreaking. The contrasts are so very poignant and I feel bad for her misery, yet I can still feel happy for the cheerful part of her here because she's not alone. Excellent job.

Such... Feels. From afar, I thought it was a bad shadow, and when I looked at it thoroughly, I saw tears. It made my heart throb. Awesome concept and emotion portrayed on the drawing.
