Description
I am quite pleased with this one. Best attempt at 3D so far.Centre part rendered in blue here in wallpaper format.
BUT IT IS NOT PERFECTLY SYMMETRICAL AND THAT BOTHERS ME

Cat: This is seriously just one of the awesomest things ever. I mean, come on. It's just awesome. Words fail me.
Phoenix: The elegant flow of the center is... mesmerizing...
Kathleen: WOOHOO! FUSION! I love it! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Cat: I really want to know, what was the equation/set of equations that made this thingy? 'Cause it's awesome.
Phoenix: If there's anything imperfect about it at all, it's the border. It's a good border, but it's sort of anticlimactic. I rarely frame my images anyway, though, so what would I know? e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Kathleen: Oh, yeah? Well, I LIKE the border, so shut up.
Cat: Come on, guys, we're trying to write a critique here...
Kathleen: She didn't like the border!
Cat: That's her opinion. ANYWAY, back on topic, this is an amazing piece of fractal art and we really love it.

Why not indeed,
Β I suppose in a hundred years quantum physics will be 'old hat', before then it will change the way we see the world.
its always fascinated me how much energy is locked into an atom.
Yes symmetry is a beautiful idea, but I would not concern yourself within this image its cool as it is, well done you

Ok. No fishing talk lol. I've always had an interest in beings from other worlds. I believe the theory that they have been visiting earth for a very long time, giving us small bits and pieces of their technology here and there to help advance our species and at some point mankind will make some sort of huge scientific discovery that will completely change everything as we know it. That's when I believe these other worldly beings will finally reveal themselves to us all and finally teach us the knowledge we need to put that discovery to use in interstellar travel. The discovery that finally causes them to reveal themselves could very well be the understanding of how quantum physics/mechanics really works.Β
Sorry if that was a little out of left field. I like discussing this kind of stuff and when I find someone that might have an interest in it I usually jump at the opportunity. So anyway, any thoughts on the subject?

Very mesmerizing. This is completely out-of-the-blue, but I've been having djinn (commonly known as genies) for a while. I read somewhere that djinn might be able to power machines because they're made of smokeless fire. Even if it's not symmetrical, it's still amazing. Have you seen the Doctor Strange movie? If not, I think you should watch it. Alongside a good story, there are elements in there that might inspire any future artwork that might come to you. Β

I have seen the Doctor Strange movie. Good film. I was a bit "Wait, really?" about the casting choice of Cumberbatch as Strange, but was pleasantly surprised by how good a job he did with the role.

3D printing is probably the only way to create it in real life. It's something I wouldn't mind trying, because the couple of 3D-printed fractals I've seen from some other artists have been so cool. I'm not sure an Apophysis parameter file can be turned into an .stl or .ipt or other 3D file format though.

For some reason this is reminding me of Tiberium wars and maybe a Scrin reactor or something. Nerding out ftw.

I had to look that up because I knew nothing aside from having a passing familiarity of the name. Based on my quick skim, I think this would look a bit more Scrin-y if is was purple instead of green.

I used a program called Apophysis for this one, which can be acquired for free from the Apo website , but I'd recommend Xyrus' Apo7x version instead because the "official" one hasn't had a proper update in years. It's easy enough to make some decently cool-looking things just via basic screwing around and clicking on random shit to see what will happen, but true mastery takes work. I am absolutely nowhere near that, though I'm a bit more advanced than random-clickage-to-make-things. The main Apophysis Group here on dA has a bunch of tutorials collected in one of its gallery folders, which is a good place for a beginner to, well, begin. (Just completely avoid browsing Resources & Stock ImagesβTutorialsβFractal Tutorials. It's anywhere from 75-95% non-fractal miscats and you will have to slog through way too much garbage to find the useful stuff.)

Well, I have been dabbling with it for a good six or seven years now, but yeah, I still have so very much to learn about the program. I'd probably be more advanced if I made fractals more often. Haven't been doing much lately because things keep going buggy with my install no matter how many times I remove and reinstall the whole program.
