I don't know if it can help but:
I put a lot of pressure on my pencils until the gradient gets very smooth! I also use a lot of colors, for example, i shaded the blue with a bit of red, yellow on the lighter parts etc It really gets easier with practice!! I'm sure you can improve really fast if you can afford nice pencils or just a blender (its like a depigmented coloring pencil). And i think the white gel pen adds a really great effect and texture
