Jix (rat-guy) is what is known as a Summoner. He is able to summon forth creatures he commands to help him in situations from fighting, to basic interactions such as conversation. Normally, Summoners are completely aware of this power, and the creature they can summon forth. Jix, however, is not aware. Due to his extremely abusive childhood, Jix manifested his first creature without even knowing about it - as such, that creature is considered a very dear and close friend - not a creature subject to his commands.
However, Due to Jix's abusive past, he has also developed a sort of 'multiple personality disorder,' that seeps through his summons. The Behir often depicts a carefree, childish and even prankster type demeanor - as that is how Jix perceives that creature. However, sometimes when Jix is overly nervous, or scared about something, Another creature manifests, this is a physical representation of the sum of all his fears - this is the skeleton depicted in this picture.
Because the skeleton feeds off of Jix's fear, and because Jix is absolutely terrified of the skeleton, it is a perpetual cycle of renewing the fuel to keep the skeleton alive. Every time the skeleton manifests, Jix must fight his own fears to 'defeat' the skeleton. However, to muster the courage to do such is monumental...thus the reason for the Behir's attempt to protect him, and fight against the skeleton - an effort to show Jix, through example, that even his worst fears can be conquered - and he need not do it alone.
The Behir - Kyilmstilan: Jix's first creature manifestation, and closest friend. Jix is able to summon other creatures, each one depicting other 'personalities,' but Kyilmstilan is, per the story created for him, the first one ever manifested, and the one closest to Jix.
The best way to see this union is like that of a child with an invisible friend. Kyilmstilan will do anything to protect Jix, because of this, the Behir is almost feral with its anger and desire to protect, like a father protecting his child.
The Nameless One is fueled by Jix's sense of terror. In the end, this personality has absolutely no desire to kill Jix, as doing sill will also destroy itself, however, it knows that if it can keep Jix in a state of perpetual fear, then it is free to roam as a physical manifestation. In order to accomplish this, the Nameless One always walks...never runs, as if to say it knows it will catch Jix eventually, there is no need to chase. It's eye contact is always focused upon Jix, and no amount of interaction barring physically blocking eye contact, will change this - this effort of 'starring down' Jix is just another element of fear to add fuel. The Nameless One has no desire to hurt Jix, but that does not mean it can slaughter and torment others to fuel that terror within the rat-folk.
