Futurama was more of an animated sitcom, following in the same vein as Matt Groening's previous The Simpsons (Red Dwarf crossed with The Simpsons is probably the best way to describe it).

Oh wow well you're missing out...for the most part, Futurama and Venture Bros. are really good for the most part but others like Family Guy, the Simpsons, and South Park I would recommend you sample and see if you like them.
