I've been a fan of the ASTERIX series for the longest time. I recall seeing the characters pop up here and there when I was younger, but I didn't start truly getting into the comics until Junior High. The school library had a few of the books, I picked up book #3, and I've been hooked ever since. With a drawing style that was close to the works of classic Disney, it should come to no surprise that the comics have been adapted into several animated films. It's easier these days to watch the films with Youtube and multiple streaming services, but it was almost like a treasure hunt scouring all over the internet looking for ways to watch Asterix in action back in my teen years.

One of the few that got an English-friendly DVD was the 1994 film ASTERIX CONQUERS AMERICA. It's by no means the best film of the bunch...the film was meant to be made for international markets, so a lot of the humour from the comics had to be dumbed down, the plot is thin, the synth score by Harold "Axel F" Faltermeyer is pretty cheesy, Craig Charles wouldn't exactly be my first pick for voicing Asterix, and the representation of Indigenous people....let's just say Europeans didn't give a toot back then!

Despite all this, it's probably the Asterix film I've watched the most. It's what you would call a "guilty pleasure". I can't defend it as being some overlooked gem, but I somehow keep coming back to it. I admire the animation and even the music score can be fun with the certain mindset. There are better films in this franchise, but I'll always have a soft spot for it.
