Description Edit* Second attempt to create Peter Davidson's Iconic pose without making it look like he's takingΒ a piss.

Having a Doctor who phase still, thought it would be fun to tackle the revamped 80s tardis set. Having only really been familiar with some Pertwee stores before, the 5 Doctors was my first look inside the Tardis and it looked rather like this. It was an interesting challenge to try and give this more of a cinematic quality as it lacks the size and scope of later consol rooms, but it was a nice challenge.

Also including the 5th Doctor, because he rocks and isn't nearly talked about enough.

The building was a quick after thought, (nicked it from a screengrab from the Witches Familiar) good or bad idea? decide amongst yourselves.

Also available in burnished oak... Β

Made with Blender, Vue 10 and Photoshop.

A lovely illustration of a classic series concept in full motion of budget and imagination. Surely this is enough to get you working for Big Finish, if not another company who needs work this amazing and detailed. Keep up the good work and keep working on beautiful 3d models such as these. (Seriously, super jelly of this! Wish I could make something like this for my projects).

A little puzzling on why you matched blackpool to 5 tho. Shirley 6 would make more sense with that gag? hahahaha. Would love to see a piece with 6 if you haven't done one yet. You have a lot of talent, which I keep saying because I need to flesh this out past 100 words.

And there we are.

Thanks for the Critique. Funnily enough I actually do do the odd job for Big Finish on their Terrahawks, Prisoner and Doctor Who ranges.

I guess I quite liked the title. for me 6 will probably always be "EXXXCELLSIOR!!!!!"

Awesome job! The character of the 5th Doctor is a great choice since there isnt as much on him out there as is the newer ones. I remember the show growing up including when Tom Bakers Doctor changed into Peter Davidson'. it was still a huge starship on the inside. The colors you chose are spot on to what the tv sets portrayed the colors then. about the ONLY negative critique i could possibly say is no hat rack...lol.. although i cant remember if Mr. Davidson's TARDIS had kept it or not. (I shipped off to Army basic) This is definitely going into my favs and my screensaver on my system at home. this brings the 80s back for me!

Thanks for the critique Β

You are right about the Hatrack, it would have been a nice way to put a few nods to the companions and make the place feel more homely. I considered it but i'd spent too long on the image and needed to get back to other projects, so lets just say this is post "Frontios"

Thanks again!

Oh my word.
Fantastic.
Absolutely fantastic.
The TARDIS looks STUNNING, and it shines like one of the newer console rooms, but with even more detail and shading.
Fantastic Job.

This is awesome and it looks awesome! You definitely managed to make the 5th Doctor's console room look very up to date and cinematic, while keeping all it's charm. Excellent.

That aside, awesome picture!

If what I've heard is true, wandering random alien planets is better for your health than a dip at Blackpool's beaches.

Was thinking more in line with flashing a alien - the term being entirely relative - civilization, but that works too.

Mind you, if Blackpool were to be flashed by a time traveling alien would it notice?

I think it was stated in one of the newer episodes that the TARDIS took the Doctor to where he needed to be, rather than where he wanted to go, which is why a lot of the time he ended up going somewhere completely different to what he intended.

The 80's console is my all time favorite design by far. To me, it represents what a proper fully functioning console should look like instead of bits and pieces from a Junkyard replacing various dials and switches.

First story I ever watched featuring it was 1984's 'Resurrection of the Daleks' when I was getting into Doctor Who age 4 back in the 1990's on a VHS Video copy of the story.

Never liked Resurrection that much, too grim, might merit a re-watch though.

DoctorWhoOne In reply to Chrisofedf [2015-12-16 06:39:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, Peter Davison himself did once claim that 'Resurrection of the Daleks' had a higher body count then 'The Terminator', both from 1984.
