Somewhat chibified Ryoko Hakubi from Tenchi Muyo franchise(If the image is too red on your monitor, sorry about that - my scanner scans in a weird way and even a lot of digital adjusting doesn't always end with optimal results.)
I'm a bit on an "old anime" trip, watching some stuff from the good old 80s and 90s. I have mixed feelings about Tenchi Muyo, but I guess Ryoko is pretty cool (and so is Washuu). The tree tech was very cool, though!
Drawing her hair was surprisingly difficult - or rather outlining it neatly. Looks so simple, yet instantly shows crooked lines. I wonder if the anime staff used curved rules for that. o_O

And yes, I think many traditional artists complain about their scanners, since the scanners with most fidelity tend to be rather pricey and are even then not always scan colors true to the original. But that is unfortunately due to the difference between how human eyes and machines process light, so postprocessing is a must in many cases. I use not only brightness&contrast correction, but also selective color correction, since sometimes some colors get scanned well, while others particularly badly. As the final step, I like to copy the scan layer, Gaussian blur it by appr. 10% and then set it on Overlay, Multiply or other blending modes visibility set between 20% to 30%. That works well enough.

I have not, no. Musical instruments are quite challenging for me to draw.
