Description
My first Avatar-inspired deviation!I could have gone for a ground view showing one of the many epic landscapes. But that can always be done later. I don't see much of the space scene seen very early on in the film, so that combined with the fact I promised many people my next 360 "Vue It" work was going to be a space one just meant it was the right theme to choose. It was at least lighter in polygon count than my first two that were very "tree-heavy" bumping their polygon counts into the several millions which resulted in countless crashes. Still had a fair amount with this but comparatively not as bad so bouts of swearing while making this was minimal
As for technical aspects, this was testing a version of Vue that can't actually render planets to its limits, that along with clever use of postwork allowed me to simulate a pretty authentic looking world below the viewer anyway. Rendering would have taken eons for me and so I got help, so I'll jump to credits for help before continuing:
Anyway, this required constant hopping between Vue 7 and Photoshop as some areas needed to be painted on and then brought back into the 3D world again to be rendered with the right amount of distortion and then composed in Photoshop again etc. I won't ramble on, Ill just say it was as hard to do as it looks, so just enjoy it!
Vue it - Pine Shrine
Vue it - Christmas Village
Vue It - Holiday House
Vue It - Haunted Harvest

Oh. My. god. ThisIsTheMostAwesomeThingI'veEverSeenEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm becoming adicted to zooming all the way out, looking down, starting it spinning, then zooming in again while it spins. I feel like a halk or something doing an attack dive towards the ground! It's so cool. So cool!

Glad you liked it. A new genre of space art perhaps
Unfortunately the warping of the planets and everything else is beyond my control, it would be like zooming out with a camera beyond its physical maximum - you'd end up with almost a whole scene around you squeezing into the same-sized frame which is bound to look funny Even I recommend not zooming out much more than the default amount at startup

Burning-Liquid In reply to Chromattix [2011-05-25 12:39:56 +0000 UTC]
Indeed
But I get you thing about the camera, pretty logical actually.
Well nice more, superb job m8 Kinda wish I could put it as my background

This is so realistic I feel a little dizzy after looking for a few seconds, you're right, this is the coolest piece inspired by Avatar I've ever seen. I love especially the texture of the clouds, I almost can touch them.

Chromattix In reply to Goldchild [2011-05-24 14:22:03 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, some do get dizzy - luckily I spun a lot as a kid so it doesn't affect me as much lol I wanted that look with the clouds too. A sort of "closeness" even though we are out in space

Hmm, which country we can see in this work? I haven't got idea .

Thankyou! Glad it wa s anew experience to see This did take weeks of work to do, made harder by my computer's constant refusal to accept the intense workload
Not based in any real country, if you really want it to be it could be far north Europe or Canada, but this place is just fictional

This is fantastic! And it took me quite a while to find the spacecraft (at first I thought you cheated on the thumbnail ), but that only shows how incredibly huge the scene is.
If there was one thing that's missing it would be a fullscreen-button
π: 0 β©: 1
Chromattix In reply to rotane [2011-05-24 12:01:47 +0000 UTC]
Lol, you should have just moved left first I did cheat on the thumbnail a bit. The space station and planet are both together there just to show better what the full thing contains. Gotta make the thumbnail appealing so people will bother to look, and I'm glad you did

rotane In reply to Chromattix [2011-05-24 13:00:10 +0000 UTC]
Haha, I know! I just.. went the other way first. Oh well. Made the exploring part later all the more an eye-opener-experience.
Oh yeah, no arguing there, the thumb to a "picture" like this should definitely draw your attention and hint at what's there to see (or discover)
