Description From an ask on tumblr.
I tried to make a reference on how I colour in Hetalia style in Clip Studio Paint. I made one before but this is in the newer APH style
I hope it is at least understandable!
I used Ita-chan because he's the most common Hetalia character
Thank you!

Please see it on tumblr:Β cioccolatodorima.tumblr.com/po…

Hetalia belongs to Himaruya-san!

WOW
Also maybe this is why Himaruya-san doesn't colour his art a lot. Too much work XD
Thank you uwu

this tutorial is gold!
I only want to ask you one ting senpai;
when you are done with the head, how do you make the new layer for the outfit?
do you make a clipping layer above all of them? or justΒ  normal one?

Hey Rosel-D! I just wanted to thank you again for your helpful tutorial! Because of it, I was able to improve the way I draw digitally! I was able to apply it in this drawing:Β paachu4dada888.deviantart.com/… Thanks again and don't stop being awesome!~

How do you get high resolution images? The program I use (procreate) always ends up being more pixelated than I would like it to be and I can't figure out how to get smooth images.Β

There's not much useful information in this, all it really said is 'Add layers, done that? add more layers' Β It doesn't explain how to get the colours correct :L

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cioccolatodorima In reply to ZeldaGamer11 [2016-03-31 17:04:39 +0000 UTC]

Well, They are just normal layers. And I did mention I use at least one screen layer.
For the colours, it's up to you to do that
other people have different preferences in colours, it would be quite rude to force it to them.

ZeldaGamer11 In reply to Cioccolatodorima [2016-04-01 21:30:07 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I get that, but still I was hoping for more info on how to get those specific colours, as in, what do you do to that colour to get the slightly off shading? I've always liked that about the Hetalia style.

Cioccolatodorima In reply to ZeldaGamer11 [2016-04-02 02:30:32 +0000 UTC]

Slightly off shading?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ZeldaGamer11 In reply to Cioccolatodorima [2016-04-02 12:42:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, instead of the shadows being directly darker they seem to have more vibrant colours in them, like the shadows for the skin seem a bit more pink and in the hair up there the shadows look slightly purple.

I feel so stupid asking this but what's a gradient?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vibrantes In reply to imasemi2 [2016-03-29 01:20:05 +0000 UTC]

Hi, a gradient is a smooth transition from dark to light, or vice versa (or even from one color to another, but "gradiently"). In this case you are using an airbrush to make some parts slightly darker than others to create a smooth shading in the drawing.

Do you use SAI right?
Can I ask to you how to color lines?
I mean..There is some particular option you can use, or you just re-draw with a color on the lines you did before?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cioccolatodorima In reply to D-structive [2016-03-26 18:01:57 +0000 UTC]

I use CLip studio paint for this, but it's the same for SAI
Just like clipping layers to the coloured bases, you clip a layer to your lineart then colour it with anything you like

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

D-structive In reply to Cioccolatodorima [2016-03-26 18:12:03 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see.
Thanks, I never tried these things. (I'm not exactly an expert with SAI and stuff..XD)
I will try if I can understand well all the options. XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

itsguts [2016-03-26 17:37:44 +0000 UTC]

when you add color to the lineart, would lowering the opacity on the lineart layer work also? Or is there another specific way?
