I watch too many horror movies, I find this one to be strangely creepy. It has a disturbing atmosphere about it.

lol@something-creepy!
a simple scene of domestic friction between the granny and the grandson , really!I mean that's what I intended!
but now that you detect disturbing atmosphere, I too find a bit of so on a relook. May be the old woman's face, the direct stare, the green and the face behind glass...all these can make one uneasy.
thanks for the suggestion [!] and thanks for the fav too!

Haha well good horror is about taking something mundane and than twisting it around. And kids to tend to creep my out in general. So it is the image of the kid just standing at the window staring inside, combined with the grandmas direct stare, and the expression on her face lends it a disturbing air.
Also one of my weird little phobias (probably from watching too many horror movies) is the idea of looking out a window, and suddenly seeing face right there looking back in at me.
So images of people staring into windows watching tend to be particularly creepy to me.

you have such a rich gallery, so much to see and I haven't scratched the surface.
What do I see...worry, stress, alienation between the generations...anxiety and frustration on the
part of the youngster, steeliness and frustration on the part of the older woman.
a wedge that sets between the simplest of human interactions, sharing a meal.
Or is he never invited? I see the table is only laid for one.

Thanks for a rich comment
I am glad all the shades of feelings have come across.
The table is laid for Him, actually, the grandma is waiting and he is sulking.
And thanks for both the fav-s too!

we can smell the altercation coming on, love how the title say a little bit more about the picture, it could be boy standing out of the window.... You have a fancy for cool titles like me

You're quite the storyteller...
This is so classic of youth and the aged. A disagreement can be settled with a homemade dinner for the old lady, but the boy...his pride has to be managed.

Hello. I like this...a bit like Hopper and his "nighthawk" thing. It's a lovely composition.

thanks
surprising [and gratifying, of course!] you find it closer to Hopper-style.
Normally I would associate the one below with his style -

I see what you mean but I do love a figure in a building with glass beyond.

"Inside/outside"
But, who is in or out? Perhaps a reflection (half the woman she once was)?
The colors are marvelously placed against one another! Nice work!

Interesting imagery. I like the color and composition and mood. The bowls on the table are the brightest colors, drawing immediate attention to them.
As for the meaning of the painting. Hmmm. The title means a dispute or controversy. That's where I get lost. I'm not familiar with all the political affairs around the world. If I had to make a stab in the dark, I'd say the elderly woman is maybe resentful for being forced into assisted living and her grandson outside is showing concern. Or maybe she's being forced to take medications? Am I way off?

thanks Juliette.
I know the expression of the boy hasn't come out quite well.Altercation is between him and the grandma! An ordinary normal scene, really.
She has prepared the meal for him and is waiting but they have had some argument, so he is sulking out.
