A wonderful, amazing and beautiful image; is well lit; has amazing color and subtle texture; featuring an incredibly beautiful model in a classic pose, with lovely blue eyes and exquisite red lips. This photo looks like a masterpiece that should e hanging in a museum. Well done.

my boyfriend's apartment is in this really beautiful old house with lots of natural lighting, hopefully staying with him this summer will be inspiring.

You are so lucky, I hope you have a great time in that fun environment.
How do you get that amazing pale skin tone in this image, without desaturating the rest of the image?

this is going to sound horrible, but I'm just reallly pale, and I have yellow-reddish undertones to my skin so usually between lightening it, and making things more blue it cancels out. You can always desaturate part, and use a layer mask to put it only ont he part you want desaturated, but I think desaturation usually makes it look a little grey.

Sounds normal to me, the yellowish-red undertones are sometimes called gold (which sounds so much better ).
I like your technique and will try it out, thanks!

yeees. sometimes my skin looks more red, sometimes it looks more yellow. I'm mixed ethnicity (german, native american and a teeny bit irish) so I have weird combinations, like red hair and the ability to tan.

No wonder you are so beautiful. I'm 50% Native American, 25% Spain, 25% France, so we share the good tanning genes. I'm olive but I have many cousins with very fair skin and green eyes (and a few blue ones in there too).

I have reaallly pale skin from my mom, and my dads ability to tan and a lot of my dads facial features, especially my cheek bones, I have retardedly high cheekbones. I got my skin and hair from my mom, my face from my dad and my tanning genes from him too.

I need to find this picture with my two brothers and me at their graduation, one is trying to eat his tassel, one is giving me a creepy look and I made a stupid frightened face. XD I think my sister is hiding it on purpose, hehe. Not my most photogenic moment...but it WAS fun

маленькая девушка (malen'kaya devushka) is like "little girl" but not in the same sense, a devushka is more like "young lady" not an actual grade school age girl.
and панночка is an old word for lady, but I like it from the movie viy. [link]
