Description
The gladius-class is the workhorse of the Confederate Central Military in my RP. 1050 meters or so in length, capable of atmosphere reentry for unloading troops, vehicles and supplies. The design in mind was for a spearhead, with substantial forward-firing and broadside weaponry, and great velocities in one general direction (as is with most human constructs, hah). Its weakness is, with the arrowhead design inspired by the Venator star destroyer, its stern. Yet it's still heavily defended. With the fall of the Nobles, the central military was re-outfitted with primary weapons that reflect from minor waves in subspace, to be cued on command to bend their directed-energy weapons to hit the enemy.

With substantial warp-drive capabilities as well, it can fare independently in case a Lighthouse network is down. Its primary role however is a support destroyer, with the majority of its forward mass filled with shuttlecraft and fighter bays. The immediate forward tip of the destroyer is a blast-door protected entrance to the landing bay that runs down hundreds of meters, connected to loading, repair and docking bays. Taking an ingenious tool from BSG, the destroyer utilizes modular launch-tubes for its carrier role, to deploy fighters swiftly and safely out the angled sides of the vessel.
