Commission done for odin36519 on FurAffinity

This was a rather fun commission hehe. Not only did I get to redraw myself decked out in my steampunk gear, I got to design a new outfit for someone else as well! asked me to take his fursona and give him a steampunk outfit, which isn't too hard. Though he said he wanted similar goggles to the ones I had on, he said that normally his fursona only wore pants.

It's actually a lot trickier than it sounds to draw someone who only wears pants normally to look steampunkish. So I picked out a few qualities and came up with this outfit. Steampunk generally centers around the victorian era. Because of that time frame, I selected knickers and spats(which are usually overlooked but an awesome accessory on anthros XD) in place of general pants. To go with the goggles, I also added a nice top hat again an accent of the era.

Now as for colors for his outfit, generally steampunk is associated only with browns, olive green, and gold. Steampunk goes WAY beyond that. Steampunk really can use ANY color or metal, there's no written rule that says that a certain color/metal is out of line. During the victorian era, jewel tones were actually extremely popular in high fashion. So color actually isn't forbidden. XD Since is a snow leopard, I went with a bit more cool colors for him. Blacks with a few hints of brown, and then silver.

So hopefully, if anyone else wants to do a steampunk design, I shared some of my thoughts on steampunk fashion. And hopefully we'll see some more out there! But otherwise I'm glad to share this with you guys. ^^
