Description Some of you might know that I am working on a grand master piece which I have been stitching since October. It is rather slow work and so to give me a break and to actually finish something I set to work on this small piece (18cm by 5cms). It features the character Peter Rabbit from the wonderful stories created by Beatrix Potter and has been created through whole, half and backstitch over the course of a weekend.

Awwww thank you. I wouldn't say your previous efforts with Cross Stitch were a failure, in the beginning my mistake was that I didn't realise that big pieces take heaps of time (I've been working on my master piece since October and I'm only working on the 4th panel out of 9 now) and are very strategic. You often have to start really small like book marks to get the hang of it. That way it encourages you, you move faster and thus can tackle the really large pieces. In the end cross stitch is a test of determination. So you never know, might be worth giving it a shot again.

Thank you. I think this is the first of the non-old person like pieces I've submitted. I find many of the others tend to have a very grandma sort of feel in particular the cherry sampler I submitted a while ago.

If you don't tell them where the character is from they'll never know lol nah but seriously in art popular characters get appropriated everywhere anyway

Yep it's feels like it's been along time between breaks, your Sydney trip seemed great! Not to mention you got to visit some of the nicest looking areas and eateries!

cloudrat In reply to Lovely-Rikku [2006-05-23 02:03:36 +0000 UTC]

A few hours over the course of the weekend. Probably would have been about 10 working hours. But I never count these things too seriously, I should some day though.

Spare time ... you can never really call that can you? I remember once when I stitching and a lady came up to me and said, "oh you must have so much time." I really wanted to say, "I don't. You need to make it if you love to do things." People never have spare time. Not at all. Anyhow, how have you been?

That really is the best compliment anyone could give me. I think it is always nice to know there are other cross stitches out there as you feel very alone when you aren't old and do this type of art.

I think there is nothing wrong with keeping ones hands busy and I must say I really admire that you knit. I've never been able to get my head around where the needles go.
