Description
Ok, rock on, I finally managed to finish it, I'm so excitedBeen dragging for like 4 months or more, I guess it's been somewhere between 70-100 hours of work? Consisting of a few hours a day or something like that.
I plan to color it, but not this year, of course I'm gonna color the printed copy or something, I don't think I want to risk screwing the original somehow.. I've also been thinking of figuring something out to add the layers of blue increasing in intensity with the increasing distance.. But that's gonna wait for later, right now I'm just so relieved that I could finally add the signature and post the drawing here
So, this is only the 1st request in my line, I'm really slow as hell xD
Dedicated to . He drew me another cool drawing I wished for, you can see it on my profile.
He wished for the most badass thing I could imagine.
I admit it doesn't give me goosebumps or anything, but I hope it's sort of cool and heroic. A female heroine leaping from the tallest building in vicinity (uber realistic action yea o.o), saving the world or going on a rage trip, before the alien invaders from deep space, in the back is sort of a space ship that's pulling/ sucking things with it's cannon ( initially there was just some sort of a black hole but I failed and added something to make the sky more full).
My1st time drawing a city, it's been a lot of fun doing it, I do realize the perspective is not perfect, there are quite some flaws and misaligned things, but I only realized of those things later as I was going form the initial sketch to the details, but it was too late then to change things. I'm still proud of the outcome
Thanks for those few dear friends of mine that keep lifting my spirits up and giving me motivation, without you there would be nothing I could (or want to) post here
My deepest thanks!
IF you feel like coloring things, you can color this drawing, I'm curious to see how would it look colored by anyone else.
All I ask for is the link or a thumbnail to the original drawing, and the original artist of the drawing (in the description).
You can find more of the B&W drawings that you can color in this folder: roxy932211.deviantart.com/gall…
If you color any of the drawings in that folder, including this one - notify me and I will feature your version on my profile.

Your perspective, attention to detail, and form is undeniable. However i think some of the details are lost because the foreground and background are similar in value. Other than that the work has a good flow and is rather stimulating. I would also like to point out that what you did with the cityscape is no easy task as im sure you know. I can honestly say i have never seen a pencil drawing of this magnitude before. (not that I am an expert or anything) In summation I have to say that the time you spent to create this was well used and you should be proud to display this work.

I'll say it in advance, thank you for the awesome critic, I really like it.
But can you please tell me what you meant by
"some of the details are lost due to foreground and bg being similar in value"?
I just want to understand the whole critic and this is helpful I'm sure

well the characters, which im assuming are the focal point of the drawing, sort of blend in with the city. Then in the city itself most of the buildings are of similar values so i guess some spots are flat despite the perspective. However, you plan on coloring it yet, so im sure the issue will sort itself out.

Ok, thanks for explaining and you're right, I'll take this into consideration and try to solve things with colors when I get to that
You helped me a lot!

I had to zoom in to really appreciate the amount of eye candy this pic is loaded with. The perceptions are mind boggling. I could feel my fear of heights kick in as I got a good close look. The depth perception is a resounding success along with the miniature details that make the whole thing pop. The rounded dimensions give a flow that draws you into the picture and holds your attention in the process. I really think you should get this into color because I think it would look astounding. It would be even more mind blowing than it already is. I had to give this five stars all the way around. And let's not miss out on the line work. You use thicker lines exactly where it's most appropriate. Awesome job!

Thank you so much for the feedback, I'm so happy that you mentioned the things I didn't even see anymore in this drawing
And I'm definitely going to color it, although it's going to have to wait, till I finally fulfill the remaining requests.. I'm glad you have such high hopes for the drawing and I'll try not to disappoint!
Thank you truly ^^

this is one of the best perspective drawings i have ever seen. i love how everything fits together - its a shame, but its hard to make out things from afar. when zoomed in, this picture takes on new scale and dimensions. epic, breath taking and beautiful, while at the same time scary and adventurous. beautiful work mate.

I appreciate the time you took for your kind feedback, thank you!
I'm proud of this one, and indeed there are things that could still be better, including what you mentioned. My only "regret" is that every time I seem to hit the peak in my drawing, I lose the trail and stop like the last year. Drawing was apparently a sacrifice for most of the other areas in my life that I managed to improve xD That's why -> "regret" "".
I still owe you a drawing, and I hope you aren't too angry with me, since I'm really taking my time, but I haven't forgotten.
It's actually the next one in line along with some other one, but.. I don't even know how to really start with a pencil again.. except for some half assed attempts I've made in a course of one year..
I've sidetracked, sorry for the rant, I'm glad you enjoy this piece
I wish you a nice day friend!

i hadnt forgotten, but im not pushing either. if you force art, it wont work right. it has to flow, like water.
but not be wet, like water.
that would just ruin your paper.
hopefully you will be back on track soon; i too have had a recent downtime -
now im drawing like a man possessed again

First, thanks a lot for the positive feedback ^^
Second - can I ask you what foreshortening means? Thank you

AcridMonkry In reply to CloudSpawner [2014-02-25 12:56:33 +0000 UTC]
My pleasure it great work, foreshortening is just a particular type of perspective where part of an object or creature (such as your hero's sword and the aliens spike below) are closer to the camera and appear much larger.
