Most likely he's Flash Sentry's ancestor. A pegasus, same skin color, same eye color (though a different shade of blue), a similar Cutie Mark, a similar name (possibly a family name like the Apples), and a similar profession (also like the Apples). It would also indirectly give Flash Sentry more of a backstory.

No, that's not true. Each character has its own name called flash. Although they have the same name does not mean that it's his ancestor. He is the ancestor of rainbow dash, because both behave the same.
