Description
Some of the publishers require character descriptions to be included with the comic submissions you send them, so I've been working on the accompanying drawings to the descriptions, in this case, one Anne Hedonia. I was going to use this for my "Miss Doomsday" submission but I've decided I'll probably redo it. I'm not happy with it.Anyhoo, thought I'd post it here, regardless. Perhaps I'll banish this sucker to the Scraps but, for now, I'm displaying here.

Wow. Thank you so much! Personally, I prefer working in pencils because of the subtle shading you can do that is difficult to reproduce with inks.

I liked the shading you're using in here, specially on her black t-shirt at the left, her eyes in the first panel and her butt.
I'd suggest some focus for the objective on showing the character, unless her butt is super important, if not, it looks totally out of place. If you want to demonstrate you know how to draw backs on bodies, then draw her showing more of her body. Also, that unfinished hand on the panty shot... is a no, no.

Thanks, Jade, for the thoughtful analysis. I do have some problems with this drawing, which is why I'll probably be scrapping it and starting over. I'm not sure how all that shading will reproduce, so I'm going to do the new version in ink. Too bad, because I love shading my art. There's so much more subtlety you can produce with pencil as opposed to ink.
The panties shot may not survive into the new version. The reason I included it is because it describes a bit of Anne's wild side. But it may seem a bit disruptive to the overall flow of the page, not to mention she looks like she's mooning the prospective publisher.

I agree the shading looks beautiful, however I'm not sure if editors will care about that, since they tend to check your inking technique. The way you inked that chick from ncis looks very well, you may try it that way.
Agree, I think the idea you comment is good, but maybe showing her entire body may work better as a way to make them see you understand how the body structure works (sometimes the publisher doesn't want the story your trying to sell, but he may want to work with you for some commission or whatever if they see you have serious skills). If you leave the butt only, it may look like an excuse to draws butts.. heh, like hormonal teenager (which is no problem to me XD, however I don't think showing that to publishers may work), showing her personality may work better if you use her body language, that's why I think more body may help you better for that.

Her full body shot looks...awkward, like she's been stretched out a bit. Her hand in the panty shot looks strange as well, like it's not finished. Apart from those two flaws I think it's pretty good.

I've decided to scrap this one and I'll be doing a new version that will be inked. I haven't decided whether the panties shot will make it into the new version, though.
