Oh man. I can't stop looking at this.
Now that it's finished, I just went back and re-"read" it again. Oh man! The clues you dropped on your way makes the whole thing that much more powerful.
I can't find the right adjective for this. Amazing, masterful, wonderful, Wow.

Very nice...................those last 6 panels have a smooth and engaging narrative. I like the last shot with the ol' man. Β Good luck with that!!!

Artificer-Urza [2014-01-14 00:25:11 +0000 UTC]
She was designed (perhaps subconsciously) after someone he knew (and most likely loved). Ain't that a kick in the lug nuts.

You nailed the expression in the second panel. So much story told, without using words

Sad, but satisfying. Very satisfying. It works really well. I hope Heavy Metal see sense and publish it.

Reminds me ofΒ a web comic I read. It was called Fall out Toy Works. Very interesting comic that ran along similar lines. Man makes mechanical woman. Sells her to a rich man. Only his story goes on after that but I won't spoil it. It has an unsatisfying ending in my opinion but you can read it yourself if you want.

This is a link to the comic start.
As for this page. You can really see how much this hurt him but I don't think the old man has enough fight in him to do anything. The look of betrayal on her face says everything. Even without words this comic speaks volumes of emotions. I can see you really put a lot into this. I think this is now my favorite work of yours so far.Β (not counting your TG work, but I am pretty bias on that stuff.) Well done. all of it.

Terrific work. Emotionally dark, and kind of a downer, but definitely heartfelt. You really feel for the guy (and the girl, of course), in spite of the way he sold love for a wad of cold cash. It actually makes me wonder if he's done this before. Would a shot of a side table with a whole raft of photos be in any way appropriate? Or would that just be too humorous for a story like this? (That shows you where I'm coming from; for me, it's all about the humor.)

I like to create moving stories with some humor thrown in.Β Charlie Chaplin's films are a big influence on me in that regard.Β I don't wish to make my stories completely depressing but I thought the ending in question was just right.

Humor with heart? Right there with ya, sister.
You're probably right about the ending. I haven't read the story straight through, so I can't really comment. The aforementioned idea just popped into my head as kind of a gag, or a punchline. It might work better in a skit.

Succinct. Β Not sure that a happier ending might sell better. Β Art is wonderful--art that makes you money is MORE wonderful.

Thanks!Β It may be a harder sell but I thought the ending was fitting.Β I've been wanting to submit to "Heavy Metal" for a long time and, even if it fizzles, I'm tackling a goal I've wanted to do for a long time. Plus, I got to tell a story of my own making, which I haven't gotten to do much, lately.Β I've been struggling with myself ever since Christmas and I'm working to make this year different, despite myself.

You are a skilled and talented artist with a great eye and imagination. Β Despite, nothing! Just find your niche, your market, and don't get derailed.

So sad But in the photo, is her the "original" love of the old scientist? Is he selling copies of her?
