Description
This started off as something I thought would be "easy" but ended up hitting some hurdles I didn't really think about. I knew going in that I wanted to portray a mage of some kind mixing ice and fire magic together, again, "easy", but then about halfway through refining her look it kind of hit me that I didn't know what that mixing would actually look like or what color it would be. Faked it a bit, figured I could do some kind of swirly arcane vortex, maybe this is how arcane magic came about right? A mixing of elemental forces to create something unnatural. Thought red + blue = purple so I ran with that in the back of my head as I moved to color.

I liked how the top half of her look came about, some of the edgy erasing helped creat some nice shapes and forms. Not a super big fan of the bottom half, was thinking originally a kind of robe and then half-arsed a baggy cargo pants set up. Should have picked one or the other early on and stuck with it instead of waffling back and forth halfway through.

The effects are again a mix of blending modes, gradients of screen and overlay with a tiny bit of color dodge (by that I mean a lower opacity setting) to give some hot cores. Wish I had put one more layer into the fire, more reds I think would have helped, a bit more flame action going on, and the ice/cold side looks like it's half lightning with the jagged cores. Ah well
