8.5 hours straight? Yikes. I've done 6 two hour[approx, sometimes more] sessions so far for my half sleeve, so that's 12 hours already.. One or two more sessions to go.. 1200$ so far..

Haha, thanks man. I got it when I was college down in Houston (Texas Body Art). Was 8 1/2 hours straight. Hurt like hell come the 4th hour.

Approximately $1200 with tip. Tip was $200. I printed out a bunch of tribal that I liked on other peoples bodies, told him I wanted something similar, and he freehanded the comp on my body with an erasable marker, asked if I liked it, then began tattooing.

I wish I could man, but his number no longer works, and he kind of disappeared off the face of the earth (Told the shop he had family issues he needed to tend to, never came back and was never heard from again.)

As for the design, I've wanted something similar since I was 12. So I went to my usual artist last summer, brought a bunch of tribal shots and said "I want something like this but big." He started drawing on my body with an erasable marker until I was happy.
He's amazing tattooist.
