Er... Metal Lee didn't really fight Shinki. The target was the flag. So he didn't technically "lose" in battle. He just lost the competition.
Chou Chou straight up got owned.

If only Metal Lee had been faster or capable of annoy Shinki more, maybe he wouldn't have had a chance stealing the flag.
Maybe, to protect himself, he might have neded to use all the sand for defense and not have time or opportunity to get near the flag.
