Description

When chapter 700 came out most fans were furious about these female characters being housewives or having jobs that didn’t require them to be outside the village due to marriage/maternity.

They thought that the ending was pretty sexist because of this, and I used to believe that too, but after thinking about the matter for some time I came up with a conclussion: These girls are all awesome, Sakura’s a legend, Kurenai use to lead Team 8, Temari is a jounin, TenTen is the second strongest taijutsu specialist and the rightful owner of Rikudou’s legendary tools, and Hinata had incredible feats in war and The Last... does a choice like this change all that?

If the story was that sexist they would have never achieved any of these goals to begin with. Of course we wanted to see them kicking asses in 700 instead of sitting in a chair or cleaning the house, but they chose that life. They chose to take care of their beloved and to be always close to them. This is a really important detition many capable women take every day in Japan and all over the world.

- Sakura may not work as a doctor, but she raised her daughter alone for 12 years.

- Kurenai may not lead another team, but she did lead her daughter into becoming a really good kunoichi.

- Hinata may not be the Hyuga Clan leader, but she is highly respected by her husband.

- Temari may not be kicking asses in the desert with her fan, but she is an important link between Sunagakure and Konoha.

- TenTen may not... well, I still don’t know if she is a legendary kunoichi or not... we know nothing about what happened between Konoha Hiden and chapter 700 apart of her being most likely a jounin and working in a family shop. So my guess is that she married Lee and stayed in Konoha to raise Metal (because let’s face it, TenTen would never stay at the village selling stuff if it weren’t for a good reason, she’s pretty wild XD)

Either way, here’s my point: these girls CHOSE being mothers and wives even though they could have go through a completely different path. They had the strengh and talent to do wathever they wanted and this is it... shouldn’t we respect that? isn’t it what feminism is about?

Please, reblog all you want but ask me before reposting ^^

In the hidden stories Sakura and Ino were running a clinic to help children with traumatic pasts.  For all we know they're still doing it.  If Kabuto can run an orphanage what's stopping them.  People complained so much about the focus on them all as mothers and it never occurs to them that women can work and raise their children at the same time (especially since most of them only have one child).  And so what if we saw more of that in the story; you have to put your kids first above your own wants and that's ultimately just as noble as going off on epic ninja quests.

Unfortunately, feminism has been split between those who want equality and those who demand a matriarchy.

Well I guess they accomplished what they wanted. And now they want to settle down a bit like katara did in the legend of korra

Very well said!   I'll be honest I'm also one of those fans whose a bit disappointed with the ending...

But seeing/reading how these kunoichis' careers blossomed throughout the series until they had their own family is enough for me, like a closure for my childhood.

Agreed, the ending could have been more spectacular, and there are a lot of questions without answer (bring it on, Kishi!); but it's good to see how much our wild flowers have grown and how they have their own families now.

As you said, it's a closure to childhood.

yeah, at least we can always use our own imaginations to alter the ending/events in Naruto to our own liking
