Yeah,in my country,those who have the name of Constantin are usually called Costy(for young ones),Costel or Costica(second and third for older people).

The form for young ones sounds even much prettier than other ones Costica reminds about Costarica

The short name doesn't change in time,it just that "Costy"is use after 1990 as a short name to Constantin,and the others one were used before,that's way the older men got them.
They still use them for young men,but at the country side.
Sorry for the long explications.
