Nice work!!So ,last year in middle school???You are in 8th grade or....In my country last year in middle school's 8th grade,after 4 grades in high school;in total 12 years of study.

Now I`m in junior high school ( called also gymnasium ) in 3th last grade, so according to elementary school (in Poland 7 to 15 years old people or children ) I`m in 9th grade. In Poland:
Elementary school # 7 - 12 yrs ( 1 - 6th grade )
Gymnasium # three years ( 7 - 9th grade ) 12 to 15 yrs

Wow....complicated system.Here is more simpler:
1-4 grades(primary school) one teacher;
5-8 grades middlescholl(same bilding/school) one teacher for each discipline;
9-12 grades high school,when you finish you take a exam(Bacalaureat);or you can make a 3 years professional school.
afterwards optional 4-6 years at the university.
