Description We had an African Grey named Smokey while I was growing up. We used to have epic battles at the coffee maker. She'd climb down and attack everything for giggles.
I love them.

When my sister first started working at a bird hospital, she brought me to show me all the different birds. In the beginning there was a ton of these, those giant macaws, and a bunch of smaller parrots. Nowadays, you mostly see greencheek conures with occasional African Grey (macaws are still everywhere). But I have always enjoyed looking at all the birds and their feathers--especially the African Grey because they are like those smokey grey cats! Just too pretty to not love! XD

I think you did an amazing job; it looks so real and well propotioned! I am curious though. I see you primarily used grey with the white acting as the lightest part--did you apply the white before coloring in the grey or did you just leave a blank spot for the white while doing the grey?

Thank you so much! I agree, conures are veryΒ popular asΒ of late.Β
I love greys. They have such wonderful personalities!
I am glad you said it's well proportioned - I tried really hard to keep the perspective in order.

Initially, I started doing the white coloring first, but switched and was leaving the tips blank to go back later. I found that was working much better and let me keep the shape of the tips smaller without having to constantly sharpen my pencil!

I always stumble upon this problem with white--it just never seems to stay at a pointed edge, its like after one line of color and then bam it looks like you've never sharpened it! Perspective is hard to so for buildings...I can only imagine the nightmare it must have been drawing this! But it was well worth your hard work!

You should meet my sister green cheek; he is such a character. He's been picking up new words and sounds (his favorite phrase is 'What's up baby'), but he has now learned how to laugh...And what an evil laugh it is! He bit my father the other day when he tried to pick up my sister's bird and then did that evil laugh!Β XDΒ

Thanks so much!

That evil laugh! That is too funny! I can totally see this! Β

My mother's grey used to yell at the dogs and other birds to "Quiet! Shush! SHHHHHHH!", which was really counter productive, but amusing!
