Someone asked is tree mimics are somehow related to animal mimics, so here's this:

"The plant-type mimics need to photosynthesize and sleep--similar to how animal mimics need to eat, breathe, and sleep.
While animal mimics are always aggressive and use their disguise to get closer to prey, tree mimics will avoid confrontation and will often pretend to be normal trees no matter how ridiculous their appearance. All tree mimics start out looking like normal trees but they can grow limbs and slowly change their forms. Animal mimics are stuck with the unchanging form they started with."

Albinism and melanism, while rare, has been observed in both plant-type and animal-type mimics.
