An animated feature is an ultimately daunting process even with today's available technology. But the really impressive thing about this work is the threads of a story you've suggested. A cool a relentless detective pursuing an investigation. Royal intrigue in an alternate world of fantasy. The title character Traun who appears to be on a quest - or is he pursued? If the animation never comes to fruition DO make this a graphic novel. That is, after all, how Osamu Tezuka started out.

How it was done-
1. Animation drawn on paper and cleaned up in ink. Backgrounds painted in gouache.
2. Everything scanned into the computer. Used a fixed peg bar for the animation drawings.
3. Converted the animation drawings to vector files with Streamline.
4. Imported vector animation files into Flash. Colored animation drawings. Export completed file sequence.
5. Composited the animation drawings with the backgrounds in After Effects.
6. Edited sequences and added music and sound effects in Final Cut.

The animation is hand drawn, but is it digitally painted after it's ink? What software did you use to composite everything?

The animation is colored in Flash, and composited in After Effects.
You can read about the rest of the process in the creator comments section of the deviation.

Wonderful work! If you can do this quality stuff on your own, can't imagine what it'd be like if you had a team to work with. If I had a film budget i'd totally give it to you.

That animation was Amazing and great! I loved and enjoy every single second.
It could be a really good work to be a real movie or something else.
And to be honest my favorite character was the detective. I kinda laugh when he was playing Rock Paper Scissors with the monster.
^^

Muchas gracias amiga for the nice comments and the !
It would be so cool to turn this into a real movie someday. I think I good make a decent film on a low budget. I'm happy you liked the detective and didn't mind the silliness.

Haha! SWEET!
I'm getting a Dragon Quest vibe from all of this - stunning animation, what looks to be a good story, and just enough silliness to tie it all together.

It's supposed to be a little odd, definitely some silliness in there.
