Description
The artwork shown here is traced off a filler image from the webcomic "El Goonish Shive" by Dan Shive: [link] so it's completely (c) by Dan Shive, I take no credit for the pretty artwork* * *
I've been experimenting with a software called "Anime Studio Pro" lately; its main purpose is to create animations by manipulating vector drawings over time. I'm not really comfortable with the program at the moment, but i hope this gets better.
This is my first attemt at animating a complex model. Thus the animation is far from convincing, everything is too floaty/unnaturally/generally all over the place. However, I hope to get better & probably laugh about this some day.
PS: sorry for the hideous file size, the output isn't optimized at all

I envy you, seriously. For the love of GOD I can't figure out how to work animation studio, sure I can draw random pretty things but I can't get the stuffs to work right, I end up getting a headache trying to fit those bone things in

That's kinda sad. I feel for ya though I was the same way with 3D animation, luckily what I learned about skeletal hierarchies with 3D programs transferred over pretty well into AS Pro. That program is still a pain in the ass though. I can't seem to figure out how to set the exact bending points along the edges of joints, & still can't get the damn files animation to export properly. Grrrrr. It's still a handy & fun program though. I'm just glad I didn't waste the money to actually pay for it.

I should be envious of your drawing skills . But i agree that Anime Studio sure isn't that intuitive, and especially at the start it is very headache-inducing. I recommend starting with the tutorials (even doing them a few times over), and then have fun experimenting! Eventually you'll get better

I don't know why you bother using these programs. Real men write their animations using a text editor in svg/xml and can visualise their vector transitions in their head.
P.S. I'm obviously not a real man, I've been waiting for inkscape animation functionality for ages. I might end up programming it myself.

It's rather stiff, considering how much she moves.
It's still impressive.

agreed, the movement is rather doll-like. Gotta keep working on that ^_^

Looks convincing to me. It's definitely smooth enough animation. Noiche.

apart from the headturn, the movement sure is smooth (maybe a bit too much?), i'm more concerned with the lack of control/direction/physics.

Looks good to me.
If you're trying for realistic physics, when she puts her foot down the last time it's a bit too slow/smooth. (Not really a PROBLEM though.)
But really though, it's very good.

For some reason the design makes me think of Elliot more than Tedd...
Nice work ^_^

maybe because the bangs resemble elliot's hair more than tedd's?

Yea, I think that's it. And the expression is more innocent

Thanks ! Dan has really struck gold with his fillers lately
. If you like the gothic lolita stuff, i can recommend the manga/anime "princess princess", i learned about it from Q99.

I know the series.
The thing is I really don't like gothic lollita stuff! I don't know why it looks so good on Tedd!!!

in general, I'm not too excited about it either - but lately i've been reconsidering this . Curse you, Dan, for drawing Tedd so cute in that out fit ^_^

βSo, youβre into the Gothic Lolita look?β
βNot really. Just when itβs worn by guys.β

Hey thanks! The software is really strange to use at times, took me ages to get something half-decent together. And just when you think you got it figured out, it starts throwing strange bugs at you...
