NOTES:DOWNLOAD FOR FULL SPEED PERFORMANCE. It's still playable and smooth on the browser but it is about 1/2 the speed.
THE BOW IS A SOLID OBJECT AND ACTS LIKE ONE.
It CANNOT pass through walls. For crouch areas you MUST aim it downwards or such so it is NOT hitting the ground.
Controls: WASD/Arrow keys to move, crouch, and jump.
Aim with the mouse, click to fire an arrow.
Get to the green gradient to go to the next level.
Collect stars for those that like to collect things.
Find hearts to give you temporary extra life.
Every 10 stars collected will give you a starting health bonus.
"Y" to say yes
"N" to say no
When asked to save in a slot you can hit "1" or "2" on the keyboard.

Latest things added to game:
-Power up in level 3- increases jump height
-Save and load feature! You can now save ANY where at ANY time. Hit "E" on the keyboard to save. It will save/load all your data and your position.
-Level 3 is no longer impossible.
-Every 10 stars collected will now give you a starting health bonus! They are as follows:
10 stars= +1 heart, 20 stars= +3, 30 stars=+5, 40 stars=+7.5 and 50 stars=+10 hearts.
edit:
Stars now wont respawn when you load if you had collected them before. *pain in the ass to do*
-Level 4 is part done.

No longer shoots when you are saving your game.

I haven't opened Flash in like a month it seems. StarCraft2 Beta, School and learning Java seems to take up all my time.
Are you programming in AS1,2 or 3? If not AS3, seriously consider learning it. This engine was done in AS2 and if done in AS3 would work sooo much better.
I would like to be able to write a lot of tutorials but they are time consuming.

I do not know of a tutorial that would teach you to do this and I really haven't the time to make one any time soon with exams coming up, projects, my current game being worked on and a diving competition from Thursday to Sunday...
I can help you figure out how to do it yourself though if you ask specific questions.
I don't know your skill level either. Which parts don't you know how to do?

I've made a Sniper game instead of a platform shooter, but it doesn't work very well
It supposed to work that if you get 20+ score, you'll go to the next screen. but that doesn't work. but i've finished it and gave it to mine teacher and it was good enough

Swf decompilers are out there but because they tend to be used by thieves stealing other people's work they are probably hard to get or you'd have to pay for one and find out it's a scam to get your money.
You are probably better off just saving the swf and going to file>import>import to stage in flash and importing the swf if you didn't protect it from import. This will at least give you some of the art.
In my experience it's always better to recode things anyways.

Can you make it easier to get the objects?
I find that you have to get to a precise spot on the stars, arrows, etc, but for most platform games, they are more of hitTest things.

Whoa! Bug alert, when i went through the red portal i appeared up the top, but i couldn't see my guy properly as the camera view was still showing where i enetered the portal. Also, i ran underneath the elevator when it was up and i got restarted

That's an amazing game. I realized when you click to save the game and chose which slot the ninja fires two arrows - maybe you could disable that when the menu is up? Either way it's a small problem. Can't wait for the next update

I can't go into the first crouch area? It just blocks me, but if I jump I kind of slide in and get stuck.

Turn your bow so it is parallel with the top of the crouch area.
After all your bow does count as something to hittest.
Shall I suggest the ability to put away the bow? I think that'd be good.

Oh, that also explains why sometimes I randomly stop while walking: my bow hits the ground.

Sweet, the only thing I noticed weird was that my arrows didnt stay in the moving block correctly. I shot up into it and held down the mouse so it kept shooting, and any arrows that got stuck into it moved like half way, stopped until the block came back, and then moved again, instead of going all the way with the block.
Tried again, it happens just with normally shooting up into it.

Try now, for a while there I was updating it frequently and that was one of the things I had to fix. It should be fine now.

I stood under the elevator and shot some arrows at it, and when it came down, it shoved me through a wall and now the screen moves when I press the arrow keys. Did the ninja fall out of the platform?

Yes a dead end for now. This is just experimenting with the all the components of the game.
It is only alpha after all.
Just uploaded with being able to climb higher walls using your arrows.
That is what is with the bow.
Don't forget there will be enemies, switches, traps, etc that the bow will be able to solve later on.

Glad you like it so far, the bow will be the center of the game once more key things like enemies and climbing the arrows come into play.
