"Robinson Crusoe on Mars" (1964)

One of my favorite movies. I grew up watching this film over and over. I recently saw it after ten years and found that my recorded copy was missing a good 20min. How happy I was at last to see it.

Any way. this is the Mars Gravity Probe 1. Also know as, the Eleanor M.

My only 'critique' of Robinson Crusoe on Mars would be with the slaver-enforcers shown standing guard over "Friday's" people. It would have been much more interesting (and frightening) had the bubble space helmets worn by such had opaque or barely translucent face-plates.
The idea of imagining who-what was behind that 'veil' would have added much to the plight of the enslaved humanoids.

You that's really true. That moment really took me out of the movie. I mean your never supposed to reveal the bad guy. The imagination make it scarier.

Hey I forgot to link this deviation to the other related ones. So now there are two new links in the description.

did you have schematics to model this from ?

No. I took screen captures from the film.
The ship shoots past the screen so fast that I had to tap the play/pause button really fast.
I could defiantly make much more accurate if there were blue prints available.
I'm most interested in where the model ended up. Probably boxed up in a Paramount warehouse.

Quick little fact. Both this film and war of the worlds were directed by the same man.

Oh that's ok. I got it on I-tunes. In all reality, we don't really see the ship that much. Mostly a it darts through the sky from very far away. We really only see it in about three close shots in the begging of the film. Thanks though.

One of my absolutely FAVORITE Science Fiction Films. I actually got to see it on the big screen a few years ago at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Paul Mantee and Victor Lundin were both there. It was cool.

It was.
I was also fortunate to see War of the Worlds on it's 50th anniversary with Gene Barry(Dr. Clayton Forrester), Ann Robinson(Sylvia van Buren), Les Tremayne(Gen Mann), and Ray Bradbury in the audience. It was one of Les Tremayne's last appearances before his passing.
I haven't been able to go to the Egyptian for a while... maybe this summer.

War of the worlds was another movie I'm sure my parents were sick of, as I watched it as much as Robinson Crusoe.

This rocks, how cool that someone else finds that classic film a favorite !

It was really the movie of my childhood. I know my parents were really sick of it. lol. My dad taped it off TNT in the mid 90s. It's really weird seeing it without commercial breaks and 20min missing.
Great film. But lots of plot problems. But that's the charm of old sci-fi.
