Once upon a Wednesday dreary
Rain was falling, wet and teary
Morale was low, the people weary
Beyond the plastic castle door
Beyond the gate and upon a moor
There lived the men of Lackwador.
The simple lives there lived within
The castle walls green army men
Who stood their guard to protect the thin
Foam castle walls of Lackwador
The ill-fated fortress upon a moor
Known to most as Lackwador.
The day began like any other
‘Till one noted to another
“Sir,” said he, “or plastic brother
It seems the Earth has lost the moor!”
Indeed, ‘twas true, a heavenly hand
Had moved both castle and its land
And held it high in fateful plan
As if to settle some godly score
And seal the fate of Lackwador.
This “god” that was a giant man
Uprooted Lackwador and its land
Reset her now with wicked plan
Upon a cold, hard, concrete floor.
Upon a land of evil core
Now lay the court of Lackwador.
Bemused, and more than slightly frightened,
“Now,” said the soldier, “it seems this demon
Has dropped us ‘fore our tragic end.”
Then pointed he without delay
With stricken eyes and sullen way
Toward a looming trebuchet.
“Is that,” asked one “a wooden beast?”
“ ‘Tis a monster ‘bout to feast
Upon the men of Lackwador.”
Said another near the door,
“Upon us now’s a time of war.”
No sooner had the words escaped him
Did a great voice boom down from heaven
“Fire now on Lackwador!”
A silence fell upon the moor
Ran one brave soldier to low’r the door.
Before another moment passed
From yonder came a mighty blast
And o’er the heads of the soldiers passed
A comet of unnatural form;
A comet meant for blood and gore
Meant to strike poor Lackwador.
“The siege begins!” Then cried a soldier,
And overhead there passed another
Comet flying like the other
O’er the fort of Lackwador
O’er their heads, then hit the floor
Just as had the one before.
Then a miraculous thing did happen
With four more blasts and four more passing
Above the walls of Lackwador
Four missiles fell to yonder floor
Letting down beyond the moor.
And like so passed the next five missiles
Missing far and wide the castle
And from yonder came a frustrated bustle
As the same brave soldier opened the door,
The same brave soldier as before
To insult the giants ‘cross the floor.
“Hey, you!” cried he with rising passion,
“You’ll never hit us in that fashion!”
And with those words a rock came smashin’
Smashing through the castle door
Smashing into Lackwador
Of our brave soldier there was no more.
In the distance the trebuchets swung
And so the morn’ wore on and on
The giant children had their fun
And smashed the walls of Lackwador
Smashed the walls and hit the floor
And beat the “grass” upon the moor.
So ended the hour with damage done
Without a doubt the gods had won
Upon the day whence hid the sun
For now there’s peace in Lackwador
For now until the next great war.
