Description This is done as a cover for and upcoming story where Celestia gets her horn caught in one of Chrysalis's holes by Aera . I haven't read the story, but I can only guess it would be a buddy romantic comedy with the two matriarchs try to go about their daily business stuck together. And I just like drawing Celestia and Chrysalis.

Reading the description about the story, all I can think of is how stupid both would feel once they realized they could have freed themselves if Chrysalis had simply tilted her head to the left.

Great work again. I actually first ran into your work on FiM (saw some stories with the images including the marriage one and eventually I got linked.

I have a sinister solution to this predicament:

====

"Don't worry, Chrysalis" Celestia assures her, but her voice hid a devious undertone, "I have an optimal solution to our current predicament." She turned to a corner (awkwardly, for movement with an entangled horn is problemic at best). "Shining Armour?"

Out of the shadows, Shining Armour emerged. A metal protection mask is tucked above the unicorn's head. It was for what he currently have suspended in his telekinetic aura: an industrial grade circular saw.

Chrysalis' eyes spread wide open and her jaws dropped in horror as Celestia explained, "Alicorn horns are known to be at least a thousand times stronger than that of your average unicorn horn, so my horn would easily survive if Shining Armour were to make a mistake. However, the same could not be said for a Changeling horn made of insectoid carapace."

"You can't be SERIOUS!!" Chrysalis gasp out in horror.

"Our horns had be entangled irreversibly, so It is the only way we could think of. Would you rather prefer we get entangled like this for the rest of our lives?" Celestia asked. She turned to Shining Armour "Ready when you are."

"Oh, I'm SO going to enjoy THIS." Shining Armour hissed with glee, glowering with a vicious smile, before he lowered his mask over his face and approached his Princess and his hated foe. With the press of a button, the circular blade began to whirl.

Chrysalis' screams were mostly drowned out by the subsequent sound of cutting and shattering carapace.

Shining Armor was having quite a lot of fun slicing through Chrysalis' horn. Oh, how long he had looked forward to this! He smiled hugely behind his mask as he--deliberately quite slowly--worked the saw, at the junction point where the wailing Queen's horn was entangled with Celestia's. The cut was like going through butter: if he had been working at anything like normal pace, he would have already cut Chrysalis' horn clean off by now.

He was enjoying this *so* much, that he had forgotten on crucial detail about the buzzsaw: it had been specially enchanted with a special enhancement spell (courtesy of Twilight) that magnified its cutting power by several magnitudes--which was why he should not have been so careless in his handling of the tool, let alone put it near both Celestia AND Chrysalis' horns.

A single slip of magic, and the saw abruptly slid to the side--cutting clean through Chrysalis' horn, leaving only a stub behind...but then the saw turned its wrath on Celestia's horn. Sparks flew and the saw smoked and sputtered as it sliced into Celestia's spindly horn, cutting the tip off in seconds. Far too late, Shining realized his mistake and flung the saw across the room, his eyes wide as dinner plates.

Chrysalis had but a small stump left, which she cradled in a foreleg, whimpering quietly.

Celestia...was utterly silent, eyes glued to the severed section of horn on the floor.
"Chrysalis..." the Sun Princess announced, voice numb. "You're free to go... I'll have some Royal Guards escort you out. I must...speak with Captain Armor."

Chyrsalis blinked, then trotted out of the room--stopping for a second to throw a smirk at Shining.
"Not enjoying it so much now, are you?" she whispered to him.

Shining gulped.
"Ummm... that was one sharp saw; wasn't it, Princess?" He asked lamely.

SOMETIME LATER

The newspapers were having a field day with the incident - now known as "Great Horn Fiasco". A lot of the attention was paid on the debate over whether the removal of Chrysalis' horn with a circular saw could be considered ethical or not. The opinions are mixed - some articles argued that what was done is justified, their authors citing Chrysalis' track record of crimes committed against Equestria, and adding onto the fact that it was ENTIRELY her fault that her Changeling horn ended up stuck on Princess Celestia's, what happened to her was simply "Serving her right".

Other articles argued that it was an immoral act, nothing less than torture, especially when preferable alternative methods were possible. Much had been focused on the amount of pain it had caused the Changeling queen as the saw went through her horn. First-Hoof accounts from ponies present that the pain caused by the crude surgery was nothing less than agonizing. Many of these witnesses would later receive psychiatric therapy, tramutized by what they witnessed ("The screams... Oh Celestia the screams... how am I ever going to sleep for the rest of my life?" - commented one witness).

They all paled in comparison to what happened to Princess Celestia's horn: never mind the fact that the damage wasn't permenant; unlike Changeling horns, putting the tip back on, bandaging it and give it a month worth of time and magic and it would be able to repair itself, but the press would had none of that. The public was outraged, ourtraged by the fact that one of their most trusted heroes in all of Equestria would had harmed their beloved princess so. It was to them a great betrayal.

Princess Luna would take over the duties of raising both the Sun and Moon, and the Royal governance of the country, while Princess Celestia rests and heals. Though that in itself had caused no less amount of political and bureaucratic chaos.

In the Palace of the Crystal Empire, Shining Armour sat down like a broken doll, his confidence and spirit shattered by a crumbled newspaper in front of him. Twilight was at his side, comforting him best she could. But the It was his fault... all of it.

"I didn't know what got into me..." Shining Armour said softly, unable to raise his voice, "... When such an opportunity presented itself, I just... I just went into a funk. I HATED Chrysalis, Twilight, I hated what she did to me and my wife... I wanted to pay her back for what she did and I just took it. I... got careless... I went too far..."

"Don't blame yourself..." Twilight said. She was sobbing, still partially unable to decide whether to be angry at Shining for daring to harm her Princess, even by accident, or to comfort her BBBFF in his greatest time of need. "It's my fault. If only I didn't enchant the circular saw with a enhancement spell, it wouldn't have hurt the Princess's horn even if you got careless! It was superfluous, excessive! I played a role in hurting Celestia too!"

"But it was I who suggested the circular saw in the first place!" Shining Armour shouted suddenly, then caught himself, "I chose it when other better ways are possible, not because it was the quickest, nor the best, nor the cleanest, but because it HURTS the most! I want to hurt Chrysalis! I wanted to make her suffer! And now... I had hurted the Princess too..." Shining Armour sunk low on the crystal floor, heads between his hooves and sobbed, "... Oh Celestia... what had I become?"

Before Twilight could answer, the gates of the chamber slammed open, and Crystal ponies guards and attendents scampered out of the way as a VERY angry Alicorn stormed into the room. The very air became hot as the pink-rainbow mane and tail burst into searing flames of red-hot rage.

With a thunderous Royal Canterlot Voice, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza bellowed, "SHINING ARMOUR, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SomeRandomMinion In reply to BrutalityInc [2013-02-02 05:07:18 +0000 UTC]

Twilight flinched, cringing back from her enraged sister-in-law. Despite her desire to comfort her brother, she knew full well that getting in Cadence's way when she was angry was what was commonly known as a Very Bad Idea. (Twilight first learned this a few weeks after the Changeling attack on Canterlot, when a rowdy Changeling prisoner and a foul-mouthed Royal Guard had both managed to attract Cadence's ire...and cause her wedding dress to end up irreparably torn. One "love spell" and a few days later, the divorce court was host to quite the odd trial.) With this in mind, Twilight did her best to not be seen... which was more that could be said for poor Shining.

"What in the seven circles of Tartarus were you thinking?!" Cadence snarled, stomping up to Shining Armor. "A circular saw?!? that you chose BECAUSE IT WOULD HURT THE MOST?!?" the pink Alicorn ranted, a touch of shrillness entering her voice in the last phrase.
But it seemed like Cadence had run out of proverbial steam. Her shoulders and wings slumped, and she took a deep breath and rubbed her temple with a foreleg, visibly counting to ten.

"Shining... I can understand that you wanted payback, but you have to face it: it's time to move on." Now, Cadence's voice had regained its soft, gentle quality. "As horrible as what we went through was, you can't let it rule you--overcome your judgement." She paused to bring her husband into a tight hug. "We can't let it rule us, understand? I've tried to put it behind me as much as I can--you should too."

Shining found his voice. "It may be too late for that," he groaned. "I used Chrysalis and Celestia getting tangled together as an excuse to... to torture Chrysalis, and because of one stupid slip-up, I hurt Celestia..."

Shining soon found himself in a group hug, both Twilight and Cadence embracing him. "Or, this is where you start. Now you know that holding on to your hurt can do... you have all the more reason to let it go." Cadence soothed.

"Slip-ups and all, you're still my BBBFF," Twilight added.

The trio held the embrace for a few more moments, before they finally released each other. Shining Armor's face was streaked with tears, and he still held a slouch posture... but the light had returned to his eyes. "Thanks, you two... I think I'll be good for now."

"Speaking of slip-ups," Cadence announced, turning to Twilight, "What's this I hear about a certain filly super-charging the circular saw?"

Twilight knew for a fact that Cadence didn't now any shrinking spells... which, considering how small she felt all of a sudden, was quite ironic. "...I suppose I should explain a few things," she said, cracking a nervous grin.
