Contemplation & Chaos (2013)I'm finding that I quite like this character - despite her origins. To me, she's becoming a separate character in her own right.
Her expression was a happy accident while I was sketching. Something about her look suggested to me that one could find peace amid all of life's craziness (I hope she's right about that) - which in turn told me she had to be set against a wild background.
The line art was done in Manga Studio initially, but the resulting lines were too thick and harsh and I felt I needed delicate lines to get the right contrast. So I redid all the line-art in Photoshop, despite my intense hatred of the pen-tool.
I didn't have the energy to paint a background from scratch, so I used a stock image ([link] ) from the gallery of ~AlenaKrause and ran it through Painter's "Auto-Painting" tool a couple of times.

She seems to be pleased by what she is looking at, and her dress actually looks practical!

I don't know how she feels about it, but I like that it is a simple design that is fairly easy to draw.
