Wow, what a gorgeous fractal, love that textured look, and the colours are a dream. Most wonderful work

It looks marvellous, like wooden pebbles and stones. I admire your talent... I would like to create as good fractals as you.

Tones and textures very satisfying. Can almost see the whirlpool draining away.

Outstanding! Looks like polished river rock. I have not used the SFBM yet. Looks cool I'll have to give it a try.

Thank you, unHnu, that's what it's supposed to look like, so I guess I was successful

Very nice. A step above your work so far. Iterated coloring will open some doors, particularly when you start using them as masks to apply different textures to different parts of the shape.
I personally think the very dark brown doesn't quite blend well with the other colors in the gradient. The hue might work, but I think it would work better if the luminance was more in line with the other colors.
Overall a super job though. Looks all "pebbly!"

PS. On the matter of the dark hue ... that's what stones look like in a stream, at least where I live. They range from black to white and all earthtones between. Maybe being a geologist caught me trying to be more realistic at the expense of artistic )
Thanks for the artist's eye point of view, though, definitely appreciated.
Cheers,
Cornelia

Hmmm, didn't realize I could reply like this, very cool. Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I'm still learning a lot, and this was my first serious attempt at texturing as a major part of the image.
I hadn't thought of using iterated coloring as a way of masking, so that suggestion is most appreciated, and I'll give it a try immediately!

Seven layers -- one shape, 2 color, 3 texture, and one highlight. Julia+Doodads for the shape/color, and SFBM for the texture.

Quite subtle. Rich too - reminds me of coffee. How many layers was it? And did you use texturing, or just a colouring algorithm?
(nice work, by the way )
