It pretty much says it all.

Shadows & Highlights is an easy effect but, after a while, it gets old. When you use Photoshop almost every day of your life, it just takes one look to tell if that effect was used or not... and there are tons of photos with it!

I'm not saying you don't have to use it... all I say is don't overuse it!
