Sonic Raygun, also known as simply Ray, is an outgoing and energetic stallion, who lives with two other ponies, his close friends, Pork Soda, and Delilah, at the current place in time. Ray doesn’t work outside the house, helping to pay rent by selling his crafts online, and while at times it doesn’t pay as much as it did the last month, he contributes as much as he can and is a very diligent worker in that sense. Out of the three of the roomates in the house, Ray is by far the most “content”. He’s always keeping Pork and Delilah entertained, or perhaps in their words, annoyed and on their feet. Being the bundle of energy he is, he’s rarely one to turn down an afternoon of simply babbling on about books he’s been reading to whichever of his room-mates is available, but it’s really all an act of innocent friendliness.

Background

Ray is a pretty gullible guy, not so much naive, simply very trusting of others. His father never taught him to have a backbone, not really seeing it come into use for Ray’s adult life, and his mother raised him on the notion that there are no bad people, and that everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt. He was bullied harshly as a child, up until college, where Pork had helped him realize that not everyone deserves to be trusted as soon as you’ve met them. After Ray had helped his parents pay rent for a solid 6 years, they gave him a head start in buying an apartment, to which he was able to buy and pay for about a year on his own with the funds his parents provided. Somewhere along 4 months into that year, however, Ray had discovered that Pork had been involved in an abusive relationship, and offered for him to stay in his apartment. After all, it was starting to get lonely for Ray to just be at home, all on his lonesome. Pork agreed, and maybe a month later, while Ray was still continuing his college education, he had met Delilah, who had been a friend of his since his late high school years. Seeing that she also was in a tough spot, he offered her a place to stay, and she accepted. At that time Pork was already working a job at Starbuck, so he was able to save money and pay on his own, while still having money left over because of Ray’s backup savings, but after the years worth of money was used up, Ray had decided to work as well, though by selling small arts and crafts objects he’d work on at home. He currently plays an average role in making and assisting with the rent.

Relationships

Despite his luring and energetic nature, and the fact that Ray made friends easily, he was never able to find any sort of intimacy in any friendship he’s ever had. Ray’s mother was his immediate primary support in his family, but she had passed away from brain hemorrhaging that led to a stroke. After that, his entire family had a much more distant feeling with each other, especially his father. He’s always had a rough time talking to his father and brother after dropping out of college and not being able to get a steady job, and after that he was completely outcast. This grieving led to him feeling like a burden, not only on his family of successful people who were able to work hard and get respectable jobs, but also on his friends, more than anything on Pork. He had been paying for the apartment nearly on his own for a gap in time, and Ray wasn’t able to help at all, despite making his crafts, and putting his heart into each and every piece, and the fact that not many people enjoyed or purchased them just worsened these feelings. For about 3 months, he felt utterly useless and couldn’t find it in himself to even attempt to make his crafty trinkets. Pork knew through all of this that something was wrong, and tried to help Ray as much as he possibly could. Ray would tell him that he was a waste of food, of time, of space, and refused to eat anything or even touch any of his previously “prideful” works. For a while, Pork had to sit by his side and convince him to eat, as he was getting very malnourished. After that long grieving period, Ray slowly started to craft again, and Pork took it out of his way to convince the manager at his shop to let him display and sell the crafts. He’ll daily show Ray how much money he’s made with them, giving Ray back his sense of purpose. Now and then Pork will add a few dollars now and then at times, but it’s always kept Ray happy. Ray does have dips in his moods rarely nowadays, though he’s never fell into a pit of despair as he did like those few months.

Trivia

. Ray had chronic asthma as a child, and as such would get harsh nosebleeds if he had attacks. Nowadays he never has full-blown asthma attacks, but getting too anxious can give him nosebleeds and at times make him hyperventilate.

. In college, his minor in his first two years was Astrology, and even after dropping out, Ray will take time in his day to read on the subject.

. Ray is notoriously horrible at video games, but is amazing at board games.
