I've been seriously thinking about that, but I think it would violate the copyright law because the tf2 characters aren't mine.

I'm pretty sure your pieces would fall under parody so you'd be in the clear. Also you're not mass producing, which is what most companies are concerned about, so even if you are breaking the law a little bit (even though the law is super vague), nobody is going to mind.
