I had a lot of fun with this one. If any of you have read my novel-in-progress Akata, you should know what this is. (And if you have not... you can read what I have so far, here: www.bookrix.com/_ebook-sabrina… ) Drawing cornrows is haaaaaard~! But it turned out way better than I was expecting. I decided to branch out of my usual style and focus on back-lighting. I'm really happy with the result

I really only draw from a picture, my sister can draw from memory and create her own characters too. Writing is just more my thing.

Ah, well, I'll be honest, drawing from your imagination is just getting images of things you've seen before and mashing them together to create something new. If you can draw from observation, you can probably find a way to draw from imagination.

Well, the boy that was described in the story was much younger, and he hadn't received his warrior's markings yet. And, of course, this is just one example of a Demali warrior. Many of them have shaved heads, or mohawks, or other hairstyles. They might have tattoos or war paint on their face, or piercings on their nose, or a plethora of other things XD

Of course I want to get better! And you do help. It just surprised me that you didn't have any suggestions for improvement on this one. Generally, I know partially what's wrong with my work, but I don't know all. (And sometimes, even if I know what's wrong, I don't know how to fix it.)

I just thought it looks really good you know? owo like yeah, some of the shading could use some improvement or some other things, but this piece is really beautiful. Like the colours are gorgeous, and don't even get me started on that hair. Ohhhh and that scar on his face is amazingly done.

Yeah, I was quick with the shading, and I didn't actually create line art, because originally, this was just going to be a quick sketch, but I bet if I put a good 30 minutes more into it, it would look really good. Haha, the hair is my pride and joy. It took me HOURS just to draw it. Originally, I was going to give him a simple hairdo, but I had an idea.

I need my lineart to make my layermask so I can stay in my lines and everything will look good with lineart concealing all of my colouring bullshit.
