Description Had this image in my mind's eye for literally years, finally have the ability to portray it.
Took about 9-15 hours, spread out over a week. May come back to it later.

Not if you smile or feel sad at this wonderful picture. How many hours of work!! But definitely worth it and the title is perfect. It reflects the human being and makes you feel a bit of trouble... (I say from point of view).

Okay this made me cry. This is a FANTASTIC piece of art. I rarely say that to anyone, but it really is. The concept, the grey palette, the detail, everything. My initial thought (probably because of the monochrome) was that his owner had died. Not sure if that's better or worse than other people's idea of the owner leaving. Gah, either way this is so sad. Oh gawd I want to cuddle that dog so much

This is a stunning picture and worth the several year wait.
I love the level of detail you put in the papers-- which really makes the piece-- yet at the same time doesn't detract focus from the image.
The control and application of the lines is really stunning, so that the lining of the dog is the darkest, therefore bringing in focus to it. The way you have things blur out in the back of the picture gives it a sort of photographic feel; yet the lines themselves seem to add another dimension to it where it feels like a drawing. Overall, I'd say a nice blending of elements, colors, form, and perspective with a creative concept that I don't think I've ever seen before. To wrap it all up, there's a sort of dark message/theme to it that keeps drawing me back in.

That's the first critique I've ever really given, but I hope you find it helpful because the piece certainly deserves it :3

I was looking back through these comments and FOR SOME REASON I NEVER REPLIED. Now I can't go about doing things without having this in the back of my mind.

A year late, but I really did appreciate your critique. <3 Just so many nice things, gah, probably overwhelmed me with that little spur of happiness you get when people like what you create.

This is so emotional and I love the concept. The greyscaled colours really add the feel of the drawing. That poor dog.

gorgeous piece, I love how you executed the lighting across the floor and papers. How did you like drawing all those newspapers?

This is just... wow.. It literally brought me to tears. It captured such an empty, lonely mood.. Loyal beyond the end.

Reminds me of the animals who are actually so loyal yet don't love back from their owners for some reason, also that the man or woman might have passed and he is still doing it as he misses them so much. So lovely

wow. that is a really strong message. >.< it reminds me of this one picture in my drivers ed class. It read "don't leave your best friend behind" and in the photo it shows a yellow blanket wrapped one a person and the dog right by its side. The description says both were ejected from the car because they weren't wearing seat belts. 0.0

Dogs are such loyal animals. I could totally see this happening. Very great composition.

Wow the impact behind this is truly...deep. Just imagine, his owner died but he still brings the newspaper in... woah that's really sad, especially the dog's face, it's full with sadness but still hope. Gah.

Love what you did with the background, the papers in the back are truly impressive.

I also love the fact that the papers around the dog look so convincing that I want to try and read the small text.

Quick question: What part personifies routine the most here? And how so? When it comes to paintings we all have our own interpretation, so what's yours when you drew this?
