Meet Lucy "Lucky" Lovelace. With all those Ls, you would think she was from a Superman comic, but no, she is an original creation for a table-top superhero game I tried running back in 2018. The basic premise I gave the players to start was: this is a world in which known comic book characters either do not exist, or have remained "under the radar". It was a campaign idea I have come to refer to as "What if there were Elseworlds?"

Lucky was one of three (Edit: four, err five) characters that already had "powers" at the start of the game. As an explanation of her origin, I borrowed the "meteor freak" concept from the Smallville TV series. Originally used by the character Chloe, this was a derogatory description of people that had gained abilities from exposure to the radiation emanated from the "meteor rocks" (aka Kryptonite) found in the Smallville area. Through this in-story mechanism, a young Clark Kent had superpowered foes to fight. Before you ask, yes, her powers are a result of Kryptonite radiation. Oddly though, there are no know Kryptonians at the start of the campaign.

Lucky is unaware of, and/or in denial of her unusual abilities at the start. These abilities include above human strength and endurance, a "healing factor", immunity to disease, the ability to alter her own density, and a "combat sense" similar, yet different from, Spiderman's "Spidersense". She is a gang member that enjoys using a baseball bat in combat, and does "jobs" for organized crime, to make money to pay her mother's medical bills. As fate would have it, one of these jobs leads her into the situation that forms the team she eventually joins.
