Description I suppose I could say something along the lines of,"for anybody who lived through the 70's"...but when you think about it,anyone can get ahold of a comic book from that era, can't they?Β

I remember seeing those ads in the comic books.Β  I never bothered to order any of the stuff, though they were kind of weird and interesting.

While I never ordered anything from an ad in a comic book, much of that stuff was also available from Johnson-Smith...which didΒ get a lot of my business way back then!

Oh....thanks for the !

I still get catalogs from the Johnson Smith Company.Β  They do have some very interesting items in them - some of them kind of weird - but I haven't ordered from them in years.

I never bothered trying to buy any of that stuff, but someone actually dedicated their life to doing just that and they even wrote a book about it:

I, too, ordered from Johnson Smith c. 1978 the "Archie My Buddy" ventriloquist dummy (a Google search thus brought me here).

As for the "Stand Tall" item, whether you're an American man or an ... American woman ... a Canadian singer with a black mustache, or none of the above, it should take you ... no time ... at all to ... guess who ... the text is by way of his lyrics saluting: I wonder if to date I am alone in getting your Burton Cummings reference. Well done indeed. I love your work.

I DID order some..."Archie My Buddy" (a cheap-ass attempt at a ventriloquist doll) was a total ripoff, while the Coffin Bank...how can you beat a florescent green skeleton who reaches with his grinding hand to steal away your coin and take it into his metal coffin?Β
