Maannn this took forever for me to get this to work XDbut I have finally figured out how to mod Sonic Mania!
and well of course I'm going to be adding in Daniela, Zonic and Johnny to the game~
but as you can see some things like enemies and such have changed colour. That is because some objects in the game shared the same colour palettes with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Might and Ray which kinda lead to other things being changed as well. I don't see it as to much of a big deal since playing as my character was the goal to start with XD
Plus I think it's kinda cool to have green rings and different coloured enemies. ^^
Also please don't ask me how to mod cause explaining that would take forever and I'm still learning it myself
I suggest watching different youtube videos about it since thats how I learned ^^

it can be kinda tricky when your modding since your basically going against the games wishes so things like that can happen

Yeah. I tried to make my character, but it failed. The graphics were destroyed, black textures, slowdown, and later, the game crashed. I did exactly like those videos, but it's hopeless TwT 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
I actually had that same problem while I was modding!
and I know the reason behind it as well
the reason the textures were black were because the places your reaplaced the palette colours were connected to the back ground
so you need to replace colours that are connected to Tails Sonic knuckles and if you have plus then Mighty and Ray

You mean, if I change the palette of Sonic, then I have to change his colours of the pallet? Hmm...maybe I should try it. And another problem that I had, is that my character changes his colours between levels :""3

and oh really?
That might have been because the places you put your characters colours on were connected with the background stages
so if green hill zone changed to Press garden then the colours would change as well

Yeah, it seems. Anyway, good news! I made it! I changed Sonic's colours and it worked. I have a few images, I don't know if upload them or not. And...well, there's a lot to do. My character is still in early process, and if I can, maybe I can do some custom sprites (but that's far more difficult, doesn't it?) :3

I'm still working on the full sprite sheet for them
these are my little test dummies for now since I wanted to make sure I would be able to have there colour palettes work in Mania because believe or not getting the color palette to work took the longeestttt time ever
it was a lot of trying and error but thankfully I think I have got it down so now I can move to the next step which is planning out there custom moves for the sprite sheet ^^

Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you! But knowing how talented of an animator you are I'm sure you'll get it going at that smooth buttery 60 FPS speed. I'm rooting for you!

some will stay the same since there would be no need to change them a lot
and some I want to make super custom
