Description yes, simple ... but not in the same vain as "simple green," the cleaning solution found in some u.s. households.

there's a reason i love "amelie" so much. not the way it was shot -- except i love the way it was shot. not the fact it was subtitled for those of us who don't speak french.

it was the way she saw the world. she saw all of the details.

beautiful details.

the smell of fruit.

the sights.

the sounds.

the everything.

there's just so much ... so much, in fact, i don't think ...

we can ever see everything.

j and i were sitting having coffee in our suburban paradise ...

and while many would see the hummer.

the bitch with fake tits on her mobile talking shit about her "supposed-best-friend" to her other "supposed-best-friend" ...

dressing like her daughter ...

secretly hoping to catch the eye of her daughter's male friends.

we preferred to watch the simple sparrow.

whilst waiting for the urban terrorist vehicle to get her bi-monthly flush of motul synthetic.

the simple sparrow waiting hopefully for the crumb.

and this time a crumb and a photo.

leica mp. some voigtlander 50mm lens from gandy. the f/stop was somewhere 'round f/5.6 at 1/250th. ilford delta 400. normal.

That one leaf that seems to be floating, makes this for me.

Kinda like an " american beauty " moment

The fact that you wrote what you shot this with, like you did, adds more to the fact that this was a moment, and remembering specs, were far away fom your mind

specs are second nature, mate.

you get to a point where nothing photographic is much of a mystery.

i liked the leaf, too, mate!

Now that you're with your someone, the world you show us is somewhat softer.

Sometimes we lose track of the details, and get sucked into the mundane patter of the world passing us by. It's good to be thrown back to reality.

and another photographer said the other night, "what happened to you? your hair's not different. you just seem more mellow."

hmm...

It's a good thing, though. Amazing that you found someone who could bring that out of you; you're a lucky man.

I just love the way you look at life when you are with your special "someone" and and how you share your loving thoughts. And how through all of the CRAP out there that consumes our everyday lives you show us the softer more simple things like the way ocean waves rush up between your toes and the bubbles tingle around your ankles. Thanks for the reminder of that other side of life.

it's always there ... she's just a catalyst sometimes.

and even though i'm 10 minutes from malibu ... that damn ocean's way too cold for me to enjoy feeling between my toes.

hawaii, though, yes, i'd agree!

I do like the picture, mistah C, but what got me was the description

Gotta love the pleasure of enjoying the least obvious things

And Amelie =

it's interesting ... j ... she knows i notice everything ...

and even though i may notice a pair of legs and their juxtaposition to the floor ... of a club ... or whatever ...

she knows that it's just the fact i see shit everywhere.

sometimes the least obvious things are the best.

in fact, j and i haven't watched that film together!

hmm...

I like how they have such a way in 'our' environment. I've got a shot of pigeons living in an urban city in my gallery, you should check it out.

we were just talking about the encroachment of our civilization into "their world" yesterday whilst flying back and looking at the hillsides slowly making way to the tract homes we see...

and how they get pissed when their dog or cat gets snatched by a 'yote!

cool shot of the pigeon, btw!

protographer In reply to cweeks [2007-02-15 18:10:01 +0000 UTC]

Ah you make a good point, we've set up home in 'their' world just as much they have ours. Never thought of it that way!

but i'm not so sure about pigeons. was it the city or the pigeon. the chicken or the egg.

unsure.

protographer In reply to cweeks [2007-02-15 18:17:00 +0000 UTC]

I think both pigeons and cities need to apologise to each other, or thank each other. We supply them with old food, cigarette ends, and warm abandoned buildings whilst they supply us with good ole' barren land!

Win win!

cweeks In reply to protographer [2007-02-15 18:26:52 +0000 UTC]

i'm sure they're thinking, "thank you" for the cigarette butts!

protographer In reply to cweeks [2007-02-15 18:29:07 +0000 UTC]

They sure appreciate them around here! I could swear they're playing 'catch' with them.

You know, I've never put this much thought into pigeons before. It's quite odd.
