Great photo by the way, the lizard, the colors and composition.... Did you put the lizard there, or was it simply a very good catch?

Yeah, it's a palm tree in my front yard, it just has like 4 other plants and vines growing around its base

No, I have never picked up a lizard (well except one that got chased out of a tree by a bird then landed on an ant-hill, I took him out and put him on his tree again ).

I generally have about 1000 lizards in my backyard at any given time, so I just need to wait for one to show up somewhere

I see. This is really not how I imagine a palm tree's trunk, but come to think of it, I can see traces of its segments.

Yeah, they process pf extending and retracting the dewlap is generally about a second.  They usually do it repeatedly, so you have a few chances to get it
