I think I got a picture of a juvenile this past weekend, it was really far away so I'm not sure, and the picture isn't great though

This is fantastic! I love the rich, dark, subdued colors of the bird against the bright, vibrant colors of the background. The detail on the bird itself is quite stunning. The lighting is genius for such a dark wader. I really love the pose, he seems very sharp and focused on something. Almost like he's stalking. You really did this beautiful bird justice!

Thanks! It was hard to make sure the background wasn't too bright to wash out the contrast on the bird, but a little processing with the shadows slider in Lightroom helped
I think the time is an hour off as I didn't switch the timestamp for daylight savings, but all the EXIF data is in the bottom right of this page. For this one, May 21, 2014.

Thanks. I figured as much, just wanted to make sure. It kinda makes me sad that I missed their whole breeding season. That's why I asked, this guy isn't all decked out with breeding plumage.

I don't think I have ever seen a green heron with breeding plumage, next year maybe

They are aren't as flashy as the larger ones we get here, but they still look neat
