Near Lake Armstrong, on the surface of the moon...


A shuttle craft had just made its final approach to the moons surface, landed on the far side of the lake. As the bottom hatch hissed white mist and  opened, two astronauts emerged from the craft. A rover then undocked from the side, which the astronauts hopped into. The rover easily made its way across the barren terrain, leaving a trail of dust and rocks in its wake. "Major Franks", the radio crackled, "This is mission control; just checking in on you two, over". "Mission control, this is Major Franks; situation normal, over" Major Franks responded, driving along the rugged surface. "We'll continue to monitor your progress, control out", and with that said, the radio when silent. "Man, just look at that view Major", Captain March remarked, looking at the "blue marble" in the distance. "Yep. She sure is a sight to see", Major Franks replied, almost driving into a ditch, before getting back on course.

Driving a little further, the captain noticed something buried in a crater a few clicks away, barely seeing the top of the object. Adjusting his binoculars, he said: "Major! I think I see something!" The Major then stopped the rover, picked up the radio and spoke: "Mission control, this is Franks. I think we've found something". We can't see it to well, but it seems to look like a capsule or something, alien in design, and there appear to be strange symbols on it, over" Franks explained. "Does it appear hostile Major?" Control asked. "It doesn't seem like a threat; should we approach Control?"  Back on Earth, Mission Control did some preliminarily scans of the area, and reported: "We're not detecting any anomalous readings; you're cleared to approach Major", Control responded. "Alright Control, we're headed there now". As they drove the rover towards the crater, tremors started to shake the ground, becoming more violent the closer they got to the site. "Sir??", March asked hesitantly, fearing the worse. "Don't worry March, it's just a shift in the gravitational field, that's all it is", Franks said as they pulled up to the crater. "You sure?" "Yes 'Captain', I'm sure", Franks said as they went in closer. "Sir... they're getting worse", March said as they came even more closer to the strange object. "Don't get jumpy Captain", Franks sternly said, trying to keep his cool as well.

As the tremors were getting more violent the closer they got, they strangely seemed to have stopped altogether when the astronauts had arrived at the old looking module. "Well... What is it Major?", Mission Control radioed to them. "We still can't make it out just yet." Major Franks said, "We're gonna have to dig it out". As the two of them took out a pair of shovels, they proceeded to unearth (or "unmoon??") the strange thing. "Ground Control to Major Franks, do you copy over?" "This is Major Franks, yes I hear you, over". "Major, do you have a visual on what that thing is yet, over?" "Yes sir, we have", he said hesitantly. "What does it look like Major?", they asked, eagerly awaiting the answer. "Well sir.... it looks like a.... a...." "A what Major?!?!" "An..... alien looking.... dumpster", Franks said, a little puzzled as to what they'd found. "Repeat, what did you say it was?" "An alien looking dumpster sir.. But by some of the markings, it also looks like some sort of prison. Control, what are orders for this.. thing?", the Major asked. But as Franks was waiting for orders from the comm center, March decided to take a closer look at the strange relic. While he studied the relic, he started to hear a hypnotic tone, resonating from the artifact. As he reached out to touch the round, rigid, and mysterious object, it was as if it was calling out to him... to open it. "Major, you have permission to secure and open the object, over", Mission control said. But as Control was issuing out orders, both men were coming under the influence of the of the object. "Hey Major... why don't we open this thing", March said in an almost dazed voice, completely under its power. "I suppose so, since we just got orders to go ahead", Franks replied, in a similarly dazed voice. They then grabbed two crowbars from the back of the rover and began to work the seal loose. As they pried the top free, a blinding light emanated from deep within the relic, charging toward them at breakneck speed. The two astronauts were helpless as to what was coming out, and to what was coming next. "Major, we're starting to get some strange readings from there.. Major?? Major?? MAJOR FRANKS?!?!", the Control center radioed, but there was no answer.

Just then, the Control center systems started to go haywire. Screens started to shatter, computers bursting into flame, panels falling from the ceiling, electrical bursts shooting from the broken screens, ripping through the center like a tidal wave. Simultaneously, the world's satellite grid began shutting down and falling from the sky, impacting the Earth. "Sir, were getting reports from all over the globe", a comm officer said, "Satellites are falling from the sky, comm centers are going down, Military defenses are... and sir..", she said with a long pause, "Its spreading.."

The commander looked around his crippled Control center, feeling the carnage that he had just witnessed. As the operations in the center were going dark, the crew inside, trying to escape the wreckage in the base, heard an evil, demented, laugh echoing in the halls before the systems went down: "HA HA-HA-HA!!!!"

"What have we done?", the commander said, before seeing the face of that "Evil"..........

Elsewhere... in unknown regions...

"SHE HAS RETURNED....", a mysterious voice said, knowing what was about to ensue. "WE NEED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION IF THE EARTH IS TO SURVIVE". Just then, lights flashing, systems in the old command center were starting up again, after so many years. "WE NEED TO BUY SOME TIME BEFORE THE COMMAND CENTER IS FULLY OPERATIONAL AGAIN. READY THE COMPUTERS!! WE ARE GOING TO NEED TO FIND SOME HELP! ONLY THOSE PURE IN HEART CAN WIELD THE POWER NECESSARY TO DEFEAT THIS FOE. I PRAY THAT WE FIND THEM IN TIME....", the strange being said, as he started his search in the earth for these "special individuals"....
