The origin of Reaper - Reaper’s story began on the world of Ba'sion. He was once a dangerous criminal living on the streets. A fugitive from justice, Soran was constantly on the move. After committing a capital offence, he was sentenced to life on a penal colony. Soran was being transported to the colony when Galactus arrived just out of Basion’s orbit. His arrival disrupted the transport’s structural integrity, which started to destroy the ship. Soran was able to get into a spacesuit, and jet away from the explosion. Galactus had opted to consume the world, but could not get past the energy barrier protecting the planet. Seeing an opportunity to survive, and to get his revenge, Soran struck a deal with Galactus. He would provide Galactus with the access codes to the shield, if Soran’s life would be spared. Galactus agreed, and Basion was consumed. In gratitude of Soran’s gesture, Galactus made Soran into his new herald. On that day, Reaper was born. Infused with cosmic power, Reaper began to serve his new master Galactus, tirelessly searching for new worlds for him to consume.
