Prologue



20,000 years before the Battle of Yavin......

     The  battlefield was rich with turbolaser fire, shots bouncing off energy shields and grazing hulls as they flashed past. Three fleets were engaged in a huge skirmish in an attempt to gain the upper hand over each other. On the receiving end of the onslaught was the smaller of the three fleets, and they were getting hit hard. Two massive dreadnaughts - the Knightbringer and the Dayender - made up the muscle, while smaller corvettes and battleships constituted the rest of the small fleet. The Dayender, taking on the most damage, hull riddled with gaping holes, air depleting, the crew made a mad dash to the escape pods. The pods were being launched and made the short trip over to the Knightbringer, aboard one of which was the captain, Warmaster Ti'den Manol. Soon the cargo bays were filled with escape pods, but only half had survived the short trip to the other dreadnaught. Ten pods were destroyed by laser fire, sacrificing themselves so that the others could get to safety. Ti'den made his way to the bridge, and had to brace himself as the Knightbringer shook, mostly from the redirected laser fire. Once he reached the bridge, he found his fellow captain - Warmaster Teman Viggo - shouting commands to his officers, hoping to move what was left of the fleet into an escape vector. They had to survive this battle or else all that they had fought for would be lost. His head tails twitched nervously at the thought.  "Well brother, we're in another mess. How did I let you talk me into this?" Ti' den asked. "I told you brother, I am not responsible...this time", Teman replied, looking at him with dark, wide eyes. "What are we to do then, we have to find a way to leave this star system." Ti' den pondered the situation for a moment, and then finally answered, "The device has to be transported back to base. That is priority one." Teman agreed, as long as they still lived, their secret knowledge had to remain hidden. "My lord, there is a transmission incoming from the Sith fleet", a comm officer reported. "Put it through lieutenant", Teman said. A hologram appeared in the center of the bridge, rippling as it took the form of a tall hooded male. The man had his head down, but as he looked up, his face was hidden, except for his glowing eyes. "You can't keep running from us forever, we will silence you once and for all ", said the hologram. "Your radical ideas will die with you". At the same moment another hologram flickered into view, this time a Jedi Master appeared on the bridge. "We did not agree to execution, only that they be taken prisoner and put into a Republic prison. You must honor the agreement ". "Well, this is a surprise", Ti' den interrupted. "I thought Jedi and Sith were mortal enemies. I didn't think that both sides would resort to cooperation", remarked Teman. "When something threatens the natural order of things, the impossible seems to be possible", said  Ti' den. With alarms blaring,  the comm officer said: "Hull damage nearing critical, sir." "Thank you lieutenant, that will be all", said Teman. "Well, isn't this lovely; a star lit battle, perilous conditions, engines failing, what a fine way to go out", Teman said sarcastically. As the ship was nearing catastrophic failure, they began to weigh their options. "What are we to do brother? The tetracron must reach its destination!" "But what about us?" asked Ti' den. Teman looked at him for what seemed like an eternity, and finally said: "We must sacrifice ourselves, so that the information it contains can survive. Lieutenant, sound the warning and launch escape pods." "Yes sir", the officer said. "All hands abandon ship. Repeat, abandon ship." They then repositioned the Knightbringer  between the two fleets and launched the escape pods. Wisely, they launched all the pods on the side with the Jedi fleet, while on the other side, and one "malfunctioning" pod shot out toward the Sith fleet. As it approached the nearest ship, it opened fire on the pod, but missed as it wove nimbly between the shots. The Knightbringer, heavily damaged, then fired on the Sith cruiser, prompting an immediate return of fire. While the firefight began again, no one noticed the lone pod making its way out of the star system, heading off to parts unknown. As alarms rang, and conduits exploded, the ship began to break apart. "This seems like the end brother", Teman said grimly. "No, not the end", said Ti' den, "Just a new beginning." As those words were said, the ship broke apart and exploded, seemingly ending it.  "Well, its over now. Good riddance", said the Sith commander. "No, I fear this is only the beginning", the Jedi commander said fearfully.

              16,000 years later

               "Do you really want to unlock the secrets of the Star Forge? We have no idea what is in store for us if we do", said a mysterious figure. "I am not sure if this thing is part of the Star Forge, it seems to be...different", said another.
