The first half of my Ultramarines Tyrannic War Veterens squad, only 2 models in this squad have not been converted in any way. for the rest i used castings of the insignia from the metal minitures to apply to the plastic minis.will supply a tutorial on how to do insignia castings soon for those interested....
for this special squad i have tried to make all the models with scars from their encounters with the tyranid battles, be it scars or bionics or claw marks on the armour.
i have enjoyed making this squad thouroughly!!

all i did was take a pressing in green stuff, which gives a negative cast, then let the cast harden, then use it to press into soft greenstuff on the model and viola

Pretty cool, how did you do the banner thing, on my terminator seargent, I scanned the box which had the picture on it, cut it out and glued it on the pole. How did you do it?

Those are some of the best painted custom-made vets I've seen! How did you paint the helmets white? The white paint always goes gluggy when I try to paint helmets white.

I always use black undercoat as my basing, wih the release of the new "foundation"paints, use a base colouring of Astronomicon Grey as it will cover the area, then white,... or alternitavely use shadow grey base and then layer the skull white over that carefully, then use watered down shadow grey to fill te recesses.
when using the paints, i find it better to use many thin layers rather than one layer as thin layers gives you the ability to "shape" the colour.

Okay, I got a chance to do about three hours worth of painting my Ultramarines a little while ago. If I get another chance I'll take your advice then. Though I was told to start with blue and work up to white using lighter blues. It still didn't come out so well.

i gave up on my tyranid force, all i have were the things from the macragge set, 2 fex's a hive tyrant, a zoantrope and 8 hormagaunts...so i switched to dark angels
